Hello Mr. Hinojosa, im geophysics student and i have great in seismic refraction. I do have some questions: -how do choose the position of the source in relation to the the geophones (before the first geophone, in the middle!?)? do you have the same spacing for all these positions? -in the case of the bedrock mapping, we know that the depth of interest should 3 to 5 times the geophones total length, do you control by varying the source, like the farther the source the deeper our geophysical investigation will be? thanks you for your infos!

Hi Kone, I apologize for the super delayed response...Life got in the way... Answer to Question 1: For seismic refraction tomography I like to do it before the first geophone, between each geophone, and after the last geophone. So the more sources/impacts, the better (higher resolution). You can space the source location any way you want. I prefer to use close spacing (1 or 2 m) and equidistant. Answer to Question 2: Yes, the farther the source the deeper the imaging depth, but that also implies that the source is larger. Deeper imaging depths require larger sources.
