It's nice to see someone who spends the time and effort to do something the right way 👍 My Dad drummed it into my head that there is never enough time to do something right, but there's always time to do something over🤔. He was right about something else, the older I get the smarter he was.

@1crazynordlander6 жыл бұрын
@@2drx4 I am trying to do this without spending too much money so I went with Zone's 4.5 inch lift with the full rear leaf set. I have been scanning Cherokee experts on KZbin and about a year ago ran across Cherokee Ron that's all about low dollar builds. He recommended Zone for budget and BDS if money was no object. Zone is owned by the same company that makes BDS and I guess their stuff is all made in North America. I live in Minnesota so I get the northern climate lifestyle. Your explanations are top notch. If it is okay I think I will copy your front and rear bumper design. Best I have seen so far!
@2drx46 жыл бұрын
I think you'll be happy with that lift, Zone does seem to be bang for the buck quality. Go right ahead and copy anything you like, be sure to take some pictures or make a movie and share what you've done!

Another great video! I already copied your rear bumper for my XJ, I plan to make this one too - I'm a real amateur, can you please tell me when the pair of bolt plates go?? Keep up the good work sir!
@2drx44 жыл бұрын
Thanks! They are for the forward pairs of holes that the factory bumper brackets attached to. The factory bumper really only uses 3 bolts on each side to hold it on, and the 2 that are vertical don't have captive nuts, they're just plain holes. You don't need to do it that way, you can just use bolts, but they make it easier as access is limited.

Super nice build man, I'm busy with a quarantine home made bumper and this is super helpful! Assuming you cut the brackets on the sides that hold the hooters and wiring where did you hide all that stuff???
@2drx44 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the little wing brackets were cut off, the vacuum bottle and horn were both moved to the insides of the inner fenders under the hood. There's nothing under the hood of my XJ that is where it is from the factory because the inner fenders are stretched to accommodate the tires. I'd say just pick a spot that looks decent and go with it. The wiring for the lights was just ziptied up out of the way.

I honestly don't know, most of the steel was crops I had on hand or paid not a lot for. Steel prices also vary quite a bit depending on market factors and location. I think I had around $100 Canadian into the metal ($70~ US), but would have also used up a few dollars worth of welding wire, gas, cut off wheels, etc.
