Ian, as a retired Canadian solder I do appreciate you carrying an Ingles HP! I carried one many years in service and in retirement I have one sadly a hybrid Browning Ingles slide on a Browning body! Love it but My Sig 226 still gets top billing. Sorry to see you did not transition to it! But still big thumbs up to it's carry!

How to know when a video was recorded? Check how long Karl's beard is. :D Also, I'm wondering how quickly someone could have gotten through that stage with Ian's Martini-action rifle given enough practice reloading. I can see someone who's very experienced with that gun being really fluid with their movements.

I always love when Ian brings an obscure gun to a match. Even though it's outdated even when compared to an 1880's coach gun it was still interesting to see.

Funny you mention shoot-through. At my IPSC club, I noticed on a stage that two targets were inadvertently arranged perfectly for shooting through and hitting Alphas on both. Required shooting from the far side of a barricade (i.e. running just a bit further), but I tried it and it worked out nicely!
@troy94777 жыл бұрын
Loce that Greener. I knew Ian would bring something vintage and interesting. I would be tempted to use a coach gun. Throw in 2 slugs for the 40 yd targets and call it good. If anyone cares, i find the IC choke tube in my main 870 (20 deer barrel with iron sights and choke tubes) gives very good slug accuracy out to 100 yds plus, and somewhat tighter patterns with 00 buck. It extends useful buckshot range past 25 yds, as opposed to barely 15 with open chokes. I always knew my patterns were better, then i tested it side by side with our old PD shotguns. Big difference. (Had a borrowed Vang Comp too!). The Federal "Tactical" with Flitecontrol wad is superb and gives great patterns even from open choked guns. I tested it at my own expense some years back, and at my urging we went to it (and also got rifle sighted barrels for our PD guns; I usually carried my own).

How about a video on the Greener? Figured you had done one in the past but can't find such a thing. Assume it's a conversion for use with modern ammo.

Having watched some 3-gun matches in person I have never really had an interest in them. What you guys do here with 2-gun though is exactly the sort of shooting I want to do. I think you guys go into it with the correct mindset, the rules seem to make sense and it gives an honest impression of what it is like to use a given setup in realistic conditions. Makes me wish I lived close enough to get involved in these matches, but alas I do not.

You guys constantly talk about how easy the 5.56 is to deflect, such as on light brush. Can you do a video on this and test it out. I say this because it's not my experience with the round at all. At the police agency I used to work at, the SWAT team did a barrier test on car windshields where it penetrated and hit the target behind with minimal deflection. Thanks.
@mytmousemalibu8 жыл бұрын
+GuyKappe With softer materials that the bullet may encounter, like light brush, the bullet will probably not deflect in the truest sense that most people might envision but it can certainly influence the bullet's path. It will certainly effect the smaller/lighter bullets over heavier ones. So, so, so many variables to this. I shoot USPSA and most of the time our targets are USPSA/IPSC standard cardboard, noting special. Most of our club shoots 9mm. I have seen bullets pass through 2 targets and the 2nd one to get hit I have seen signatures of the bullet starting to keyhole in a short distance between targets. On the flipside, I have seen bullets pass through thick plastic barrels and still flying true afterwards. Lots of variables.
@MarvinCZ8 жыл бұрын
Remember that the distance the bullet has to travel after being deflected has a great effect. If there is brush near the muzzle, the effect at a distance will be multiplied. If the SWAT target was close to the windshield, the effect would be greatly reduced. If you don't factor in the distance, the deflection from a windshield is stronger but somewhat predictable. That being said, I would love to see this tested, so we can see what *really* happens.

Ian i have got to know what ammo your using? i myself have a Greener Mk III that when i bought it 20 years ago it was in 12/14 but since then had it bored out to take standard 12ga 2 3/4 shells everyone ive talked to and have read state its best to shoot light target loads or bird-shot only(obviously no Mag ) no slugs and no Buck i know you weren't using mini shells and i agree with the Rio ammo sucks but was curious what ammo you found to feed that monster
@foumuh8 жыл бұрын
Would it be allowed in this match to order the rounds in a magazine by the amount of targets and their distance? So on this stage you could just load 2 slug shots between your buck shots, which would enable you to count your shots and shoot the long distance targets once you get to the slug shots.

I know you guys mainly take request from your patreon supporters, but i wonder if you had ever considered doing a 2gun match using weapons from that transitional period between the end of the civil war's pure single shot muzzle loading rifles/muskets and muzzle loading revolvers and the all cartridge firearm "age" that continues to this day. Im not a historian by any means, but i have always been curious about how a henry/spencer/early repeating rifle combined with muzzle loading revolver/multiple cylinders or multiple revolvers, or revolver with early conversion cylinders would do in a 2gun match (the idea being a surviving soldier's possible armaments at the end of the war through either battle field pickups, or issued weapons.
