A very minor point: The IBM PC DOS prompted for date and time on startup because it didn't contain the necessary hardware needed to preserve time between power-on cycles (called the real time clock). Back then when you turned it off, it was truly off; nothing was still running in a low power mode that would keep track of the date and time. That is, unless you were wealthy enough for a higher end model, back in the days when it was newly manufactured. Then you'd have both a real time clock and a battery that keeps time for you. Until the battery went dead, of course. The fact that it printed the date 01-01-1980 doesn't mean it was last used then; that's the default date used by that kind of DOS software on that generation of hardware. It's used when no real time clock hardware was detected. Similarly, 00:00:00 was the default clock time, although by the time the computer had started up and was running the clock-set program, 13 seconds had gone by, so that's what was displayed at the prompt.

Just a heads up, Bakemono doesn’t mean “changing” or “transforming” monster, it means “changed thing” - something perverted or corrupted from its origijal form. So the act isnt necessarily transitory or ongoing, it speaks to an irrevocable change in the state of something’s existence (thus why it means “monster” or “ghost” in modern japanese)

20:53 That isn't a man in costume. That's a clip from a Betty Boop cartoon set to the tune of Cab Calloway singing Minnie the Moocher. Why does nobody ever talk about the “Conductor” video (I think that’s what it was called) where it was 5 minutes a monster sitting by a fire (I think) talked about the conductor and basically said that he was a guy they took, killed and remade and then he started killing with the other monsters and made his stuff like a performance. You mentioned that the conductor might be putting on many different costumes to perform as the different monsters. To me that strikes me as a reference to a specific theater type. Very few projects have made me THIS excited about an update! I’m a writer, and the horror genre is a love of mine! Unfortunately, like an aspiring beekeeper with an allergy to bee stings, I have a very weak tolerance for things like flashing lights, jumpscares, etc. on top of an anxiety disorder, the combination of which makes direct consumption of lots of the media I theoretically love VERY hard, so I do rely a lot on “filter” creators like you to help me do my research/inspiration gathering (or at least prep me for what to expect before I dive in), so seeing a beloved project like this come out of nowhere with an update is always a great! 09:10 Well, it isn't exactly true that this computer was last active in 1980. This machine might simply have been reinstalled with an outdated OS (maybe for security concerns related modern computers and/or the internet?). In earlier days computer wouldn't have a plug & play connection to the internet as we know it today. Best case they'd have a dial-up modem. The programmers of an OS would define a default time to be used in such cases as a newly installed computer. The default time will also be set when the computer's CMOS battery, which usually keeps the clock going even when the device is turned off, has died. I'm afraid this is less of a hint than you think...

Nick Nocturne has a very relaxing voice, it's a great accompaniment with the rainfall in the background of the video. It's nice to see 2h32 make a resurgence, I remember watching Nick cover this channel a while back so it's nice to see more from them.

Several of the scenes with slower distorted audio, are all songs. The first example I've identified is at about 25:00 in this video, and trying to speed it up to normal time makes it creepier because it's not playing at a constant speed 25:00 Patti La Salle - It's Over - 1960 30:10 Henry Hall:- "Here Comes The Boogeyman" -1932

I’ve been a fan of this series since it started! I absolutely love conductor p’s work, I think this is probably the closest interpretation of 2h32 of the actual story according to the now deleted 5:00 min explanation video that was only up for a month or two. I definitely like this interpretation! And feel it’s the most fleshed out explanation we have of this interesting performance!

i have never in my life felt as much existential dread as i did watching those hands come from behind the door in the field. i remember being able to handle the original videos but holy shit it got so much better at suspense. no one will ever top this.

Hey just wanted to say if you get scared easily like me but still like these videos there’s a method that makes it less scary! It’ll even make you have a bit of laugh every time :)! Basically when a monster/scene pops up or is shown on screen just tell it Hello Sir/M’am or Good morning/afternoon/evening. (Sorry for my improper grammar or wording btw) Edit: (Some clarification in cause of hate) This is not my trying to disrespect or disregard Night Mind’s work, It’s just in case people really need this method!

2h32 has found a perfect narrator and platform to introduce the Conductor and to analyze and interpret its material and imagery and to guide us deep into it and he brings us so close he suspiciously seems like a participant, collaborator and monster's confidant, sympathetic yet the critic. Night Mind made a meal of it. It's the second Night Mind presentation I've watched - and sure, I'll subscribe, hungry for more...

Man this had to be such a fun series to film, I’m sure there is more than one person on deck for this and can only imagine all the bad takes while they had to film some of those serious shots because in my own experience those are always the scenes that have to be redone because someone laughed or broke character out of awkwardness

SOUND DESIGN IS 5000/10 AND AS A PERSON WITH ABNORMALLY GOOD HEARING, I HAVE TO SAY, THAT ALL OF THE LITTLE SOUND NUANCES ARE FUCKING HORRIFYING. MADE MY EARS POP SEVERAL TIMES, I COULD LITERALLY FEEL THAT SHIT IN MY HEAD. ALMOST THREW UP AT ONE POINT, TOTALLY WORTH IT. UNIRONICALLY GAVE ME A MILD SEIZURE & I WOULDNT CHANGE A THING (it’s ok I’m fine they are harmless, I have auditory processing disorder and this is normal for sounds with extreme/certain frequencies pls don’t worry lol). THE ORIGINAL VIDEOS MADE ME FEEL LIKE I WAS ON A ROLLER COASTER AND I FELL OVER AT ONE POINT BECAUSE I COULDNT TELL WHICH WAY WAS UP. IT GOES SO FUCKING HARD ITS BEEN YEARS SINCE IVE HAD ANYTHING BESIDES LOUD MUSIC DO THAT TO ME. WHAT A FRICKIN MASTERPIECE. GOOD GOLLY GOSH

I have so many ideas for a horror series like this, but I lack the know-how to make it a reality. :/ I wish I knew people with decent quality cameras and editing skills. I can do sound, writing, even in camera effects, but I can't edit for beans. 😞

This is how a lot of creators got started; they worked on a project with no skills and taught themselves along the way. You can also get really creative with very little editing, look at Daisy Brown and how they did such a great story with basically a phone camera
