People. They just can’t have it. Spilling their expressive residuals over the best man Harley had in years. All brands are in trouble and need to find a way out. The company’s focus in the core products has moved the tech that was 40yrs behind 20yrs forward, and more with the new 2023/4 Tourers. There’s more to come. I ride Indian, because in 2018/19 HD tourers and sportsters were old junk. Not bad for a real vintage bike, but then again vintage they were not. The better bike was built by Polaris. Now, HD and Polaris are in a catch-up competition. While new stress comes from Asia with 2025-2030 bikes. They are ready to fight like or better than the japanese did in the 90s. JZ totally understands that, your average C of the past would have stayed arrogant until its over, just the same when the british industry died. So get out and ride, rather then sliding in your own spills. Ride what you love to ride and enjoy life.

Well said! That is some very god insight. Many of the changes and improvements spoken about (for those who actually listened) are what have kept the bikes progressing and kept the touring line alive for example. But like you said, you can't keep everyone happy.

You guys are all good people. I so enjoyed my visit with you at the store last week. I enjoyed this interview video a lot. I challenged you on why you didn’t ask the hard questions and was humbled by your answers. You are true gentleman and you believe that Mr Zeitz is a sincere American patriot. You treated him as such. After my conversation with you guys I believe you are right. He is a CEO who faces tough challenges, government regulation and has to comply with policies/regulations that he doesn’t always agree with. Then when media influencers condemn Harley we all tend to join in. When we do that -we are helping to destroy the iconic brands that we all have patronized (John Deere, Harley Davidson, Tractor Supply etc)! We then help do the work that the people who hate our country start. We’ve got to stop that and continue to support these institutions that we value. We can voice our concerns to them but mostly we need to do that by voting, emailing and talking to our policy makers. Not by attacking each other. We are “eating our own young” in essence! We are far too easily influenced by social media. Thank you so much Gaylin for discussing this subject with me. You guys are all 3 top notch Americans in my book! You sitting down with Kamala Harris next? Reports show that Harley-Davidson Motorcycle shipments were down 20% in Q3 and revenue as a whole was down 9%. Now, breaking that down further, motorcycles were down 9% as were Parts and Accessories. Interestingly, Apparel was down 29% while Licensing was down 10%. And last, and most disturbing, their Operating Income was down a whopping 37%. Does Harley CEO and President Jochen Zeitz have some answers for the low numbers.

In a different time, this would be a knockout interview. Unfortunately with the times and the state of Harley, this comes off as an empty interview. The problem is this CEO has no heritage with this great company and hasn’t created anything with it. Harley is eroding and no longer stands for the great Americana of the 80’s and 90’s, not to mention the death of the Sportster. I find it’s interesting he talks about getting more people to ride and the success of the riding academy but then a new rider is faced with an average of $25K+ plus to buy a Harley-Davidson. The price point for younger people with smaller discretionary income is a big factor.

100%. HD need bikes like Royal Enfield's Meteor 650 that can get new riders into the brand. Then over time they can aspire to getting the bigger bikes. You see this model working for Triumph with their new 400's. Even the Japanese sports bike companies have smaller bikes that have a clear price progression through the range. HD have no entry point to the brand other than much older, cheap used bikes. If you're a new rider with little mechanical experience would you rather a brand new Royal Enfield 650 with a 3 year warranty, EFI, ABS, phone integrated Sat Nav, USB charging etc OR an old carbed Sportster that you're unsure will start in the morning. Both would be a similar price.

This guy is destroying Harley. He has been pushing DEI down the company’s throat and when just recently getting called out on it they say oh no we will not do it anymore. Who have they fired who implemented DEI in the company, they should have started with this guy. He is the one that has publically bragged about all he has to promote DEI in the company. I know that after all the heat they took they publically made a statement to the effect that they were ending DEI but that is just window dressing. It will be alive and well until he goes along with all those he has hired to promote DEI in the company. And also, yes, Harley needs to attract new younger riders, all motorcycle companies do, but if you alienate your base that is the fastest path to the end. This guy needs to go and Harley needs to return the majority of the people they serve and have supported them through the years, while also bringing in new riders.

Y’all do realize that the 2LL are ambassadors for HD right? They’re not employed by them but they have contractual obligations with HD. It’s so easy to judge and throw shade from where you’re sitting on a recliner. 2LL in my opinion is one of very few companies actually trying to continue to spread positivity despite the horrible decisions that have been made by the company.

I didn't watch, but i can sure tell you how the interview went without doing so.Guarantee no question was ask that needed to be ask, or discussed the real concern. I'm sure they made him look good. I have spoken with both Lance and Gaylin when placing phone orders and they are likable guys. I will continue to support them as well as Thrashin Supply. The motor company has treated them well so it's understandable for them to feel obligated to try and help. This charlatan is not worth it. He and the entire Board of directors/Executive Management need to be ousted. This is the most disappointing video release in the history of 2LaneLife.

Thanks for letting us know. To each his own. Harley dumped the DEI last April before the story came out. For example, Indian/Polaris still has these policies. As do the companies that make your truck, gasoline, phone, jeans, and the ones that hold your money. Just a little perspective. We don't back dei, it's just not enough for us to attack a single person that isn't the "one" to implement such practices. Thanks for your input.
