Denise, I loved this entire Tutorial. I've gotten away from stencils (and still have a big case I've never used yet (from a huge sale I couldn't resist!) . I'm breaking it out tomorrow to see what I've been hiding!! But what I really love is learning how to change my inner Type A personality that gets me so frustrated at times. You are so much fun while painting free style and your, "Kay Sera, Sera'' attitude. You make me feel so excited when you talk and teach me things. As a matter of fact I'm going back to my root, I have been lost from what I was always destined to be. I never knew the best way to live was to do it freely with no expectations. Tbh art is like that. We all have it inside of us, we only need to embrace it. And from what you teach, the best way to do it is to let it all go, pour it into the paper, that's when creativity is born.

This makes art look much more approchable. Learning to draw is just so hard it gets discouraging when you start later than others and don't have much instictual talent that makes improvements slow and don't have much free time to pratice. There's so much complexity going on under the surface, and the more explanations and tips I hear, the more obvious it gets how much I don't understand or have to learn. This is the first time I'm seeing something that beginners can do while still making it esthetically pleasing, unlike seemingly everything else in art, where you have to create horror after horror for years before it becomes decent to look at. 😅

I love this. I’m also obsessed with all things Japanese. I’ve been gradually buying all the kuratake stuff. I also have the silver mica ink. I haven’t used any of it yet. the bottom left one is Maine in the winter... firewood corded, evergreens in the background snow all around!! It's summer now but it sure makes us think about having to purchase our firewood! I just ordered that brass nib pen. I think it will work better than a regular glass dip pen……I hope $$$ I love all the Kuretake water color paints. Love the colors you used here.

Some people love the nib, some hate it... I love it. Be sure to wash the nib before you use it - comes with manuf oils on it and the ink slides off. I brush mine with tooth paste and an old tooth brush. Thank you! 🥰

I just discovered your site and subscribed. I LOVE the colors you chose (even matches your top!) I never thought of using the blue painters tape in this manner - thank you for that! How do you use these painted square after they are painted? (This reminds me of my Strathmore watercolor postcards.) Thank you for this lesson. I come to watercolor and collage work from photography, bookmaking, chalk painting furniture and making handmade papers from plants...so this lesson is MUCH APPRECIATED and I learned a lot from how you work and think!
