However, when I look at our severely overweight and out of shape population I'm concerned that our weapons are no deterrent at all. I generally agree with that absolute distrust; however, most of the time a politician speaks in open ended ways to enable them to go whichever way they want in the future. Very rarely does a politician say in a strait forward way, "back then I believed in X, now i can see why those believe in Y, and going forward I think Y is the best policy and I will hold myself to that". I think the bar has been set so low for what we should honorably expect from our leaders, but when I listen to Tulsi my spider senses do not go off. If her and DeSantis were to form a ticket...g-d help anyone that tried to run against them

I agree that there *_seems_* to be something different about Tulsi, but my unwillingness to get fooled again makes me wonder whether she's just talking a good game, and when push comes to shove, getting power will corrupt her as much as it corrupts everyone. I hope not. I'd like to believe it won't...but the burden of proof is on her. It's a damned shame that it has come to that. If she really is the person of integrity she appears to be, she's got a hard road ahead of her. She'll be trying to earn our trust, while a lot of selfish, vicious fools are going to hate her enough to try to destroy her. But if she is for real, the rising tide of awakening people will become a flood that sweeps away the divisive message of hate and fear she's standing against. 'Twould be an awesome thing.

When I was a little boy vacationing in western North Carolina (I was S.C. born and bred), the state of North Carolina declared a man's home by eminent domain to build a highway. Because they needed only half the man's home for that purpose, they were prepared to tear down half his home and pay him for only half his home, although the other half would have been rendered useless. The homeowner loaded up his gun and warned them not to allow the demolition crew to come unless he was paid full price for his home. That man's stand resulted in publicity that forced the state to pay the man full price for his home. Of course, there wouldn't have been a happy ending but for a free press; but the First Amendment wouldn't have done it's job if that man had not used his rights under the Second Amendment to stand up for his rights under the Fifth Amendment.

@@MostlyBuicks Well, I grew up in NJ, went to a prestigious art college in Manhattan, so liberal views were engrained in me since I can remember. Back then, I had no interest in politics so I guess you can say I just “went with the flow”. Growing up as an Asian-American, most of my life I was told that I had to face setbacks throughout my life and had to work harder to achieve success. I am 40 now and only about 5 years ago did I really delve my interests into the political realm. That was also around the same time I started a family with my wife and daughter. It allowed many things to come to light and how to effectively set my priorities. I didn’t realize how conservative my views really were in trying to establish a proper and morally sound household. It allowed me to find God again. So basically to reply to your response, people are easily influenced and become a product of their environment - especially the youth and their ignorant naivety. The left has now gone completely into the deep end and I will try to do my part in spreading awareness especially for the sake of my daughter and the future of our youth. May God bless us all.

I made the same thought a few days ago, that a person who’s never experienced such freedom to protect themselves with a firearm (and be proficient with it) will most likely be ignorant to such idea or way of living. Even if they are being attacked daily in their areas, they chose to leave it to the cops. I’m well knowledgeable of the dangers based on growing up in the Philippines. I get that, I am right there with you.
