I know there are some organizations in BC like "Open the Gates" and the Offroad Association that lobby for back country access but so far they don't seem to be very successful. It's frustrating because places like this are getting harder and harder to access on the Island. I usually go toward the Gold River and Sayward areas now.

I was also frustrated that the gate was closed. I’ve been fighting this my entire life as I’ve grown up Campbell River and lived in the Comox valley. Not much lobbying has been successful. The issue goes back to the 1920’s unfortunately and is so engrained with bureaucracy that the government can’t do much about it at this point.

It is very frustrating as I too grew up in the valley. Used to be awesome as kids not old enough for a motorcycle license to be able to take logging roads everywhere on our dirt bikes. North Island I find is your best bet but Mosaic spreads like cancer and is creeping up the island.

I just got a 2nd gen 4runner and live on Vancouver Island. Where did you get those fender flairs?

They are Bushwacker brand and ordered them online.
