This is a complete step-by-step guide on how to replace the front brake pads and rotors on a 2018 Toyota Tundra. The tools you’ll need are all very common and a DIY Tundra owner should have no problem doing this job himself.
Here’s a link to the Tundra service manual on eManuals online:

Best vehicle mx videos on KZbin! Clear, concise and too the point…no fluff no bs. Especially appreciate the tundra content! Keep up the strong work. On a side note I love those wheels, wish mine had them.

Thanks much, Greg. Always appreciated. Funny story about those wheels: When the original tires needed to be replaced, I talked to a guy who was putting custom wheels on his 1794 Tundra. Mine is an SR5 and had steelies. I ended up buying all four for $100 cash. Then I bought the 20 inch tires to go with ‘em.

@@ToolDemos that’s an awesome deal! My 1794 came with the chrome clad, which is basically a hubcap glued to a wheel lol. Wish it came with the ones you have. Look. Toward to the rear breaks video! Hey, maybe you could come up with a good way to clean between the cab and bed of the truck. I have a long beaker bush with a sort of wet suit material bristles I use but there has got to be a better way! And I think you might have some tricks. I also undercoated with corrosionx and it’s done a fantastic job keeping rust away with these NE winters and the tons of salt they use.

Great video! On my 2nd tundra and every time I watch brake videos, everyone pushes those pistons in with old brake fluid in the calipers! Open the bleeder,use a clear hose! Then press pistons, old fluid breaks down. You don’t want old fluid in your brake hydraulic system! IMO

Couple of C-Clamps with the brake pads to compress the caliper also works.

Even though the 2nd gen tundras are my favorite Toyota truck, i dont like doing brakes on them😂. Lisle also makes a quad piston compressor, good alternative to the snap on. Great video bro!

That’s funny. I thought about the Lang tool also, but decided to go full caveman. Cheers!

Great video. Doing my tundra brakes soon. What pad do you use to get the rust off the hub and pins? I have the one for the screws. Just need the disc one you use. Thanks!

Great video! Curious - do you recommend changing rotors when changing pads? Or just inspect and change if the rotors are looking bad?
@ToolDemos
@ToolDemos Жыл бұрын
If you live in an area where rust isn’t an issue, that might be the way to go. Just remember, rust isn’t the only factor. You should check the rotors for any overheating or distortion (brake pulse).

@@ToolDemos Thanks! I live in the coastal region of GA, so not too much to worry about rust. I’ve read/heard mixed opinions on if you should replace or turn down rotors when you’re replacing pads.

Why not use a new rod/spring kit? I can see the rust on the outer retaining spring. Not good if that breaks...

This question has nothing to do with this video but I’m looking for a video on spark plugs change. I’m looking through your channel can’t seem to find one. I have a 2019 tundra SR5

Is the rear same as the front?

No, in the rear there are single piston calipers, like you would find on most cars.

Is it required to bleed the brake fluid?

No. As long as you don’t open the system, no need to bleed.

My tundra is great , but brakes have been n ongoing issue. Warp rotors ever 5-10k miles. Oem aftermarket it doesn’t matter. Starting to think its a warped hub bearing.
