Semper Fi from an old Marine who joined the the Marine Corps 50 years ago, today 5 Oct 1973. I enjoyed your video, a tough battle for the Greatest Generation of Marines.

Brother, this is gold. You’ve done a hell of a job honoring these men and breaking down the battle. Thank you. You must have been great at AARs.

You ought to be proud of the work you do. This is history that cannot be reproduced again. The Marines need to give you a medal.

This was an outstanding presentation of a Company level action Dave. It clearly shows why the Marines were the perfect opponents for the ultra aggressive Japanese. Anytime that they faced the Marines they usually came out the worst for casualties. They never really understood that the US could produce such fighters who were just as aggressive and brave as they were. We just weren't so suicidal. As I live so far away in Tennessee it is likely I'll never be able to visit such places. Thanks for making it possible. Before I became a "Poag" aviation maintainer, I was a grunt. So I appreciate the teamwork and professionalism displayed in this fight. As we said in the US Army Infantry "How far Sir? All the way!"

Thank you. Agree totally with your comments. Even if you go to Guadalcanal I doubt you would see this site. The villagers told me I was the first that asked about the battle there in at least 20 years.

My great uncle Joe was killed in this battle, wow, those final aerials are fantastic, Joe Harrison still lays in un unknown grave somewhere near there, he was part of JD Bennetts squad, were they attached to "E" company? Joe was part of Charlie company. thanks again for this fantastic break down.

It gave me goosebumps when you showed the former Asamana village and the drone shot. Like this is where my grandfather was at during the Long Patrol. Appreciate all the work you do for the history of the Guadalcanal campaign.

Yes I was thinking of you and your grandfather during the filming. You will understand how very important the documentation of this site is.

Oh no… You and I talked about your Grandfather a while ago. I promised you I would read the autobiography of my wife’s Grandfather, Dean Winters, to see if he mentioned your Grandfather. Unfortunately, the book has been misplaced and is MIA somewhere in the house. I apologize for not getting back in touch with you sooner.

This was a good piece of work, very interesting battle, place and tactics. Nice drone shot and description from the air also. I've often pondered how many war stories are lost to history simply because it wasn't considered a "big battle/action". It's great of you to do the research, go to the location, share the story and give it proper remembrance. I'd add, I imagine If you're the one fighting along side your brothers-in-arms, every battle no matter the size is a big one. Great to see you back on Guadalcanal and I truly look forward to every video you create. 👍🪖
