It was a joke. Obviously the majority of super robots have some sort of power source (That they will sometimes mention only in passing), it's just that often the line between whether the robot is doing something it's power source is actually capable of, or if pure manly spirit is driving it on often blurs. Or, as in Gurren Lagann, the line never existed and they literally ARE powered by manly spirit.

In all seriousness though, I think Rai provides some of the aiming and driving of the machine. He is a swift driver even in heavy mechs.

haha well Rai´s role is the technical maintenance of the SRX, he makes sure the power outpot does not destroy the mech and also makes the calculations needed to use all the weapons (in other words targeting the enemy) if the SRX has a radar he´s probably the one who watches over it so they don´t get attacked from a blind spot

I've always loved the HTB. While nuking your opponent with a Tronium-Powerd Mech-sized cannon would be enough overkill, they go and blast them into the neared Super Nova. And playing Steel Messiah is the only way to go. Fuck i'd put as Ryu's theme, especially if he ever piloted a Super Robot -especially the SRX/Banpreios- solo.

wouldnt it be cool if banpresto retcon the entire SRX thing and made R-4 powered and R-5? R-4 powered would be an armor module big enough for SRX, and R-5 would be a wing attachment. with that addition, SRX cant be hurt, R-4 powered would also be tronuim powered so SRX has 2 engines now and wont overheat when using the buster cannon. R-5 would let SRX fly, not hover. also SRx will have access to the all new Tronium Giga Bazooka, where R-5 fuses with R-Gun powered and the tronuim giga bazooka is shoulder mounted well, bazooka. damage would be 20000 base damage(no upgrade) and 35000 upgraded damage. but each shot uses 50% of SRX's max EP.

SRX was kinda broken in OG2 GBA cuz of the Zeal on both Mai and Ryusei. With a lot of money spent on TK Burst Slash and Hyper Twin Launcher and then give Focus (the perk, not spirit) to all pilot and the raise will to 140 you basically can destroy most of the bosses in about 1-2 turn (of course with the help of Leona's Fury + Armor Breaker and maybe Stun Shot) by spamming Zeal + Valor HTB Cannon and when EN is empty Aya's there to use Renew on both R-Gun and SRX to refill EN and continue the onslaught. SP Up helps too.

SRX's so invaluable in Alpha 1 with only limited 10 times for combination, if I remember correctly. It's been the best till now.
