Thank you very much.I just dug out my Sedona that is at least fifteen years old that my loving mother gave me.It has very little use and it in great cosmetic condition,though I know that the grease has to be somewhat dry in spite of the fact that it turns and rotates very easily.Your videos are awesome as you concisely and clearly show the process while sparing no detail.I agree that these are decent quality reels.It turns just as smoothly as my new Pfleuger President that I really enjoy using.

Thank you once again Dennis! You helped me completely service my Sedona. Though it was a slightly newer model with some updated internals, your video was still extremely helpful. I accidentally made the mistake of opening up the anti-reverse bearing housing, but was able to reassemble it after a few hours of further research. Thank you once again as always, as I am a huge fan of all your videos and your channel!

I got my Shimano Senora 4000FA today. I looked inside and it needed no service as it had been done recently. I love it that it has an AR override switch. It is very smooth though it doesn’t have as many bearings as your Sedona. This Senora mist have never been used as it show no evidence of line being on it or any scratches or boat rash anywhere. I’m quite happy with it though I thought a 4000 size reel would have been larger. It is as you said exactly the same inside as the Sedona.

So - what is your target collection for 2022? 250?? +?
@christopherjenkins23732 жыл бұрын
@@2ndChanceTackle I guess 250 is possible especially given that I’m over 220 nor. I don’t have any targets though. I once had they crazy thought that I had pretty much gotten most of the reels I ever wanted but boy was I wrong. As far as Mitchells go I do have almost all the reels I ever wanted. Daiwa are another story. I had no idea how many great reels they have made even with the limitations of my collection.

Thanks!Dennis,your website is excellent.My Sedona is missing the side plate on the non handle side.I didn't notice this until I came across your great video.I recall gently scraping off what I now believe was glue on that side of the reel.What are those five holes for? I would like to find a side plate for this very sentimental reel if possible.There's nothing on ebay at the time,if you happen to come across one,please let me know.I have a few questions regarding my 430ss and will inquire of your expertise shortly.Thanks for your time.

I believe the side plate is held on with plastic studs that fit in those holes and that is why the holes are there. Thanks again Mark

Great video to learn how to clean my reel. I misplaced the drag knob to this same reel. Do you know of a replacement. The shimano part RD8918 is discontinued.

Dennis - Thanks for this video I have two SHIMANO AX2500FB AX-2500FB reels and the drag seems not to work on both of them. Rather than throw them out what do you suggest I do to fix them? I took the front drag off looked at it and it seems normal.... Put them back on and when I screw them all the way down until they stop there is no holding power at all. A sunfish could take 100 yds of line out.... :-)
@2ndChanceTackle2 жыл бұрын
That sounds like worn or missing drag washers on those reels. I am not sure on those spools if you can replace the washers of if you need to replace the spool. Try adding a hardware store thin washer on top (under the drag adjuster knob) and then tighten it down. If the drag holds, you have worn drag washers - Dennis

Many of the Shimano and other manufacturers shared parts and designs between models. Penn was best at it, using one handle and main gear for at least 20 models. Dennis

My crosswind gear has two arrows. Dose that mean I have to set them in a certain direction. Thank you
@2ndChanceTackle6 жыл бұрын
Which reel? If your reel has an elliptical gear set up, then there are alignment marks on both the main gear and the crosswind gear that need to be matched up. That is because the two gears need to mesh properly throughout the stroke. If you have the normal round gearing, then the reference marks are not important. A quick way to see is to set the crosswind gear and main gear in place and turn the rotor. If it does not turn smoothly at any point in the cycle, then you need to align these gears using the reference point. Send me the reel information and I will be able to give you further information. Thanks for asking - Dennis

What kind of lube are you using?
@2ndChanceTackle5 жыл бұрын
I am using Penn Precision reel grease and ReelX fishing reel oil. I suggest in my videos, that you can use any reel oil and lube as long as the are designed for fishing reels. Please stay away from general household and automotive oils and greases and most do not have the properties to deal with excessive water and/or salt. - Thanks for asking - Dennis

why didn't you work on the Bail that's what I have a problem with you showed nothing , mine locks up an won't flip back sometimes !!! Great video but incomplete ....
@2ndChanceTackle2 жыл бұрын
Dennis - you do not need to service a bail unless it is broken. My video showed how to service the core of the reel and simply add a drop of oil to the bail. If yours is locking you, it is likely that the trip mechanism is sticking. I think I have a Sedona in the shop. If I do, I will try to show you what to do. Thanks for the note and for watching Dennis
