I just can’t imagine using a reel like this for surf fishing. It might work for inshore or maybe on a pier but I can’t imagine using this for the surf. Beautiful job on this reel Dennis! - Chris

It doesn't have the line capacity for surf, but folks use them from the boat for 20-30 feet depths or jigging inshore - Best wishes for a happy 4th Chris

Help! Do you have any videos specific to a spool or bail mechanism not moving in or out and therefore spooling all the line in one spot? I bought a Daiwa REGAL-Z 2000T at a thrift store for next to nothing (maybe $12.00) and it passed the isle test as far as being smooth, bail opened and closed as well as you could ask, anti reverse seems good. It just needed a little elbow grease and cleaned up nicely. I didn't notice until I started to spool it up that something was off. I've owned, and still own spinning and bait caster reels and am comfortable taking them apart for maintenance and minor repair but this thing has me stumped. That's a bit more than I intended to write and I certainly don't expect a diagnosis based on a comment. But a video that might point towards what I'm missing would be greatly appreciated. New sub by the way! Thanks.

I will be posting one this evening on a Penn Battle II 3000 that has your problem. It shows what could be wrong with your reel. Thanks for asking Dennis
