Just to set things straight: the radiation produced by microwave ovens is non-ionizing, so the only danger they can actually pose is overheating, and electric sparks from metal objects left inside. The faint grid you can see over the window is a faraday cage, which keeps the radiation in. Also, all it leaves in the food is heat; since the radiation is non-ionizing, it’s completely gone as soon as the oven turns off.

Metal dosen't "dance"; instead it reflects and heats up! Those reflection go directly to the microwave making the whole thing heat and possibly explode. The American FCC has actually been hyper sensitive to electromagnetic radiation, even non-ionizing radiation like in microwaves, for a long time. It's the reason certain wireless devices were limited to half the communication distances they were allowed in other countries for a while (not sure this is still the case). It's also the reason the Turbografx-16 was so much bigger than the PC Engine and the NES was so much bigger than the Famicom: tons of metal shielding meant to do nothing but meet FCC regulations. If there was anything actually harmful about Microwaves and their radiation, the FCC would be all over it.
