Yes I'm also using this more often that I'm willing to admit :). Although I use it more as a guide for scaling characters than creating environments. It would be nice though if they added some kind of hotkey for snapping to only one of the lines. I know LazyNezumi has a manual snap hotkey that toggles between every vanishing point.

This is great, I watched another video from David Finch about perspective. He draws out these lines physically, by hand when he's drawing. But since Im trying to learn digital art I searched for a simple method for creating this grid. This is by far the most simple and helpful method I"ve found. I absolutely love Krita.

Thank you for making this video. I knew this was somehow within the capabilities of Krita but wasn't sure where to look. I'm a visual aphantasic who stubbornly persists in drawing. I draw an "OK" 2-color + B&W "head" of animal to be used as a sort of sprite by a game engine. That part isn't hard for me, particularly if I look at some other piece of game art to "feel" the style. I'm completely helpless however when I must draw the same thing from +-90 degree rotation because of the aphantasia and not create a model which snaps or looks simply totally different (in the 2d implemented in 3d canvas of game) and hope people don't notice, is like 80% of the challenge the lack of a mind's eye creates for me. I just tried this in Krita which solves the problem without any difficulty, without the patching I need if I ask an AI to do the same thing (which I have done, and frankly feel guilty about asking for such boring work.) Accessibility too: +1. I can see it's part of the fundamental design goals of Krita (at least the four versions I've used) that it should be accessible, which is something that's been back-constructed into many other tool projects but seems native to Krita as in a few other great FOS projects I've used over the years. A disproportionate number of us who have been at machines for ... quite a while as part of work, also have variations in how we perceive and move. Krita excels in this dimension of adaptability to user input without crushing the ability to make a wrong line when I mean it. There is another unnamed too I could use to do this for me somewhat reliably (without an AI) but I can't fix any problems I see in it through a shortcoming without paying a lot of money and there I'll just discover other problems but feel committed to dealing with them because I've sprung money on it. I'm quite familiar with how that works from the digitally created/mastered music and photo industries. And no, I don't use online tools because of how license agreements shift and suddenly I'm not the owner of my work or the thing I wanted to show someone has just been erased because I was dumb enough to enjoy convenience without recognizing the realities of capitalism. Tears of blood. Instead, there's a great community around Krita and more tools that I didn't know I needed (growing up with micro-fitch brushes and canvas painting) until I see it in someone's tutorial or just description of their workflow that they made because someone said: "I love your work." I was long employed in software tool development, and I think this project is by my measure of experience (and sometimes debugging) run and has as well, just the kind of community which should arise around such a tool. I'm happy be able to use it freely, as it literally empowers me to do something that ... never mind. Someday I hope to check off on my bucket list, realizing a tool this awesome. Nothing but kudos from me. (I'm in no way connected with the project, just felt moved by this video.)

Ramon here: First of all thanks for writing about your feelings and ideas. Is not easy, i know about that. For me is my final goal making these videos: to help somebody to feel better with Krita. And yes Krita team has a lot of ideas and a lot of passion. Our community is growing and we provide the best Krita possible based on human and money resources. We use this page to gather all the requests krita-artists.org/c/develop/feature-requests/17 so you can ask, and people in the forum can vote. That way Krita team can decide what is more interesting for the users if they find possible or interesting or needed. Congrats for continue painting. Challenges make us stronger, not for others but for ourselves. See you around here or KA. you are invited.

Awesome...haha, not intuitive to look for view > disable show painting assistant. The combo is quite valuable for environment art. Maybe could be in a better location (tool options?). But at least, this helps me to remove a "helper layer" I had to create just to make perspective landmarks, and use show/hide layer to compensate. From now this will be a new world :D

Hello! Can you add a function for a texture brush so that the texture changes size depending on the size of the brush? And I would be happy if the texture changed its rotation along with the direction of the brush stroke. You can also add that the texture is superimposed on top of the kisit figure. Thanks
@DreamingBlindly
@DreamingBlindly 2 жыл бұрын
I think all that you've mentioned is already in there... If the brush itself has the texture then it would automatically adjust to the size of the brush. And there is already a function that allows the brush angle to follow the direction of the stroke. Some of the default brushes already have both features like the Charcoal. But I'm not so sure what you mean by superimposing the texture on top of the kisit figure... You can press F5 to open brush settings on a brush you want to edit. And if none of these features actually show, you might want to update your Krita app by visiting the official site.
