@@joshuabolton3866, yes. He would have likely been closer to 18. The song was released in 1991 when he was 20 years old. He wrote it a year and a half prior. I think, because Tupac, the rapper, actor, author and poet, shined so brightly, people tend to forget just how young Tupac, the actual man, was.

This is why I hate when mf’s be like “Biggie’s the greatest, nah Nas is!” Like man respect to them they definitely had some nice flows and lyrics but once you listen to one Pac track ,unbiased, with an open mind and you can just feel the real intensity this man radiated.

According to his biopic, the record company was ready to sign him to his first solo contract. They didn't want this song on his first album. He politely thanked them for their consideration, but he couldn't do that. He explained that this was a true story that was a news lead one night, then a page three update, and that was it. He said he if this happened to a white girl outside of the ghetto, people would pay attention, and that he felt compelled to document his community if no one else would. They signed him. The song was the first released off of his debut album

That's #2Pac 💯 Didn't #SugarCoat societal issues or the worst of humanity. Even the record label that approved it was distraught by the true story knowing it had to be told. His power transcended physical barriers. With one song concerning relevance in current social issues, he could change the mood of a nation. #PowerIsKnowledge In terms of modern cultural change and evolution of thought among African Americans, he's one of the greatest story tellers.

2pac made this song “Brenda’s got a baby” while he was filming the movie “juice” . He saw “Brenda” through away her baby and Omar Epps went on to say Tupac wasn’t right the whole day after he seen that. He told Tupac in New York sad to say but that was normal back then . Tupac then wrote this masterpiece Brenda’s got a baby! He wrote the song on the set of filming for a movie! Tupac was only 19 but spoke as if he was 40 . From music to rapping Tupac did all that within a 6 year run before his untimely departure. He would have been a revolutionary that would’ve gone so far but for the life he lived he had to pay the price . Rapping is one thing but mixing that with gang culture is a whole different world . When Tupac went to death row he embraced it made it him self he even told former rapper he had beef with “Nas” that “I have to say something cause if I don’t , they will kill me” -Tupac now death row helped Tupac get out of jail & own a percentage in his music but it was also own by sure knight member of the notorious gang called the “bloods” being such a high rank in the gang community & having being a ceo of a million dollar company only made suge & death row that much more powerful so I think Tupac meant what he said to nas . Either way Tupac will forever be a legend! He was raised by the black panther movement & gave life to every black person struggle in America .
