The east coast/west coast beef had been brewing for a long time. It was really more about the competitive nature of rap, the competitive nature of people from the streets, pride, ego, etc. It really started with the commercial success of The Chronic, and the east coast finding competition for the position of top dog in the industry.

I said the same thing months ago on another channel. Part of me wants to blame the lyrics. I have to admit that I've been listening to rap for years, and I have never been to jail. I don't have 10, 5, or even 2 baby mamas out here. I don't beef with people in the streets. No, my life wasn't a bowl cherries, but I do know how to react in society. Just don't apply their lyrics to your own life.

Real talk from Napoleon about the record companies profiting off of the East Coast / West Coast beef. Death Row was a huge money maker for Interscope. They raked in the cash after Pac died. The same with Arista after BIG was murdered. These superstar artists are worth more dead to record labels than alive. I read about how Sony looked at Michael Jackson as a liability, because of his legal problems and running up massive debts. After he died, the company was able to just count the money from the record sales.

You’ve got people around you, friends and families , who love you very much and wouldn’t want to see you in harms way.
