Don't forget, the older folks today were boomers and early Gen Xers listening to everything from The Beatles to Queen to Black Sabbath. The old folks talking about devil's music were the older boomers for the most part. My mom is in her seventies and enjoys the goth alternative music I was hooked on as an older teen as well as rap of all kinds, and newer stuff like K-pop. Music transcends.

And their also extremely talented; they're just one of those bands that make it into rock and roll history.

That's really sweet. I like that especially with how entangled this music, for me, is with anxiety. Not because I was a mentally unwell, but because unlike other bands I listened to there was just *constant* provocation and mental abuse by peers during that period if they heard someone liked MCR for a *second*. Kids, man. Eeeverything was "emo" and emo was subhuman. =A= This was my first time watching this without being super-critical - without five hundred other people's voices in my head commenting on being over-the-top, childish, overrated, autotuned, this and that. Honestly, thank fuck for almost being thirty and no longer giving a fuck. (Except about justice, obviously ;D)

I'm just appreciating how perfect it is that their logo has a big ol "G" given the memes about this song. Here's another one for whom MCR was... a touchstone band. I have hopes that maybe they'll release more music as a group eventually, but what music they have released to date brings me back to a time when their words resonated more with me than they do now, and I'll never be able to express with any degree of eloquence how much those songs mean to me. Long live the broken now mended.

I'm 66 and discovered MCR and Gerard Way when I stumbled upon I Don't Love You. My partner of 11 years had just left me, and had been abusive, so this song hit home. But I listened to many other songs after that and became a big fan. Then they announced their reunion tour. How's that for timing? Thank God it was before the Pandemic. I have some MCR CDs now. One of my favorite songs is Planetary/Go. I think Rocking Grannies would enjoy that one. I also like Na, na, na, na and I'm Not OK.

I would also like to suggest the band Ghost. They are a metal band from Sweden, and I personally really like their song Square Hammer. You guys are amazing and I absolutely love your videos!

The Black Parade album by My Chemical Romance tells a beautiful story of a man's death. The album really is a work of art. Unrelated, I'd like to recommend In This Moment! They put on a killer show, very theatrical, and the lead singer, Maria Brink is such a strong and powerful woman!

as a young nana myself and a mcr fan i was extremely happy to see your reaction to this band and song. this song is pretty much a bohemian rhapsody type anthem for the millennial generation. i was a young mom with a teenage daughter in 2004 she loved mcr so she introduced me to them with their song 'helena'. my parents raised me on every type of music, i did the same, so my daughter and i shared music with one another easily. my mom loved freddie mercury and queen so imagine my surprise watching this video for the first time seeing gerard way and mcr just giving me queen vibes. i never looked back i became a fan so easily. they're incredible. as for your question about the actor, yes that is lukas haas, he was in witness as a child.

The black parade album is what i consider to be a master piece. There isnt a song on there that feels incomplete. MCR really put everything they had into the album. If you havent listened to it i suggest it highly. If you liked "nanananana" then "Dead!" And "House of wolves" are very similar to that song in their own ways. "this is how i disappear" "sharpest lives" are heavy rock also, but not the pump up wanna drive real fast, more like sing in the shower pretending to be on stage. "The End. Famous last words, and sleep" are more rock opera like "the black parade. "canser, and dissenchanted" are slow and more sad. Lastly: "mama, blood, and teenagers" are more quirkey and give the album more variety, with mama being the most agressive/in your face of the three. Sorry for the long reply, i really enjoyed the album and wanted to give you a short descriptions of the types of songs so you might be able to identify ones you might like

It’d be so cool if you guys did a reaction to this band called Set It Off, not many people make reactions to them but they’re more of a pop punk band that I think you may like. I’d suggest maybe some of their newer stuff like Hourglass or One Single Second, but Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing or Partners in Crime would be nice too, considering those two are fan favorites. However, you guys could literally react to any of their songs and I’d be thrilled! Anyway thanks for reading all this!
