Top 10 Mutant Quirks In My Hero Academia

After hitting that like goal on our last MHA top 10 about the best quirks, it's time we look at the top 10 Mutant type quirks or Heteromorphic types.
I was inspired to make this one because after reviewing the previous top 10, I noticed that there wasn't a single Mutant type quirk in my list of the best. So I wanted to see if I might have overlooked one by listing the best of the best for mutant types. To determine the top 10, we're looking at each of these quirks for their overall versatility, their power, and how they can be used by both a hero and a villain.
And with the release of season 7 of the anime, and the manga concluding in only a few chapters.. I knew it was about time to get this video released.

Honestly, the Quirk lottery in MHA is pretty unfair. You might get a quirk where all you get is an extra limp, such as a tail, and nothing else, meaning you need to find ways to compensate for your lack of any real powers. Or you might get an absolutely broken quirk like Frog, which grants you 5-6 additional abilities. Talk about unfair.

Jiro’s quirk is so underrated and can be used in so many different ways For example she can use her heartbeat sound to copy the frequency of a heart which as we know if you can match the frequency of any object you can destroy it She might also be able to use different frequencies picked up as she hears or somehow learns to store or copy them with her earphone jack So by doing this she can copy the frequencies of an object person or thing •to throw it off balance •Cause seizures •paralyze •cause something to go haywire •she can even cause something to shatter or disassemble Her ability if used correctly or given an awakening has lots and lots of potential She maybe can make hand Devices that can copy frequencies when plugging hear earphone jacks into them Or just learn how to do it herself The possibilities and potential are definitely there

7:03 Food being on the list while Kyoka’s earphone jack not being here is highkey wild… Its just eating, but a lot. Plus he has to keep hid teeth healthy and cant eat anything toxic. Not at all well rounded or versatile. Kyoka’s quirk allows her to plug her jacks into anything and hear anything making noise with extreme accuracy allowing for phenomenal spy and reconnaissance. Not to mention with her wrist and boot amps she can channel soundwaves powerful enough to overwhelm present mics, who is a trained pro btw. Well rounded and versatile, not to mention if theyre plugged directly into someone they could cause internal damage and they’ve been shown to be dexterous enough to throw darts so they effectively function as smaller extra limbs.

It is good that mutant quirks got some love in this top 10 video. It is fascinating to see the quirks that give humans animal like traits really show you just how beast a person could be if they had the abilities of normal animals. Got to say another awesome video, I hope you do a video on Dandadan or Gachiakuta.

"Damp" isn't an onomatopoeia. However the Japanese word "jimejime" is. They even make a joke during his fight questioning how it would work when translated, and then saying "who cares". I remember the English translator for the Manga reacting to it by pretending to be angry.

26:38 Well, if you can't use "nuclear" you certainly can use "Kaboom" or "Badaboom" to increase the size of an explosion "Boom" would give you. BTW, knowing several languages would be amazing for this quirk, as some languages have weird extremely specific onomatopoeias, others allow adding diminutive and augmentative suffixes or prefixes to them, and when the effect isn't visibly obvious, having your opponent unable to infer it by reading the word is also a plus. And there's probably some language that has an onomatopoeia specifically for a nuke

Frog at the bottom is crazy, while the weakness is valid, look at the NUMBER FIVE pro hero Mirko with a similar quirk. Froppy has practically the same abilities but with extra buffs (Underwater excellence, Her Tongue, Mucus/Toxins, Invisibility, Stomach Storage, Wall Clinging, etc). If Froppy were to train under Mirko and focus more on strength and combat she can easily be top 5 herself in her future.

I literally said the same thing. Frog may not have the same upper limit to enhancing Tsuyu’s physical strength, but it definitely enhances her kicking power if used properly and gives her a wider variety of abilities.

Not only that, but Tsuyu literally uses a support item to heat herself during the winter, almost negating her weakness completely.

I think Mt. Lady's quirk has a lot of potential since we know that she is lazy and never trains to the point that she cant even fully control her quirk sometimes, which means any/all feats she does are just the base power of the quirk. Accidentally destroys buildings with super strength, probably has pretty good durability since she was able to tank one of AFO's attacks and still got back up to block someone that got launched fast enough to potentially catch Bakugo, and while her speed is considered low it's probably because she's worried about property damage. If she was a villain she wouldnt have this problem and people with longer legs irl naturally walk faster, she's probably still faster than most people without a speed boosting quirk. We've already seen how hard it was for the heroes to stop Gigantomachia and he had multiple quirks, while Mt. Lady wasnt strong enough to stop him on her own, if she trained and improved her quirk she might have been able to. Plus the best part is that again, she does all of this without training which means that she doesnt even go to the gym and isnt fit which we've seen has an impact on strength quirks. Deku had to get fit to even use OFA, Mirko clearly works out and is able to rip the heads off Nomus, imagine how much stronger Mt. Lady would be if she had some muscle. There would be very few people strong enough to actually fight her. That isnt even factoring in how broken her quirk could potentially be if it awakened. Would it allow her to control her size? Would it allow her to grow even bigger? Would it allow her to use her enhanced strength at her regular size? Would she be able to shrink down?

I agree, but I think her quirk is transformation, not mutation, so it wouldn't make it to this list

@@Cerri22PG True but I just said this incase 2Spooky wanted to make a top 10 transformation list. It has a lot of power despite her being a terrible user of it and most of it's downsides go away if you're a villain. Most people below a threshold of power or hax cant even fight her. Also, there are some quirks in transformation and mutation categories that really could be in either. For example, the Principal's intelligence quirk is a mutation but the quirk of that one girl that activates her's is done via drinking tea or closing her eyes and functions like a transformation quirk but should realistically be a mutation quirk.

@@autisonm Mutation refers to perpetually active quirks, while transformation requires the user to do some action to activate their quirk The case of the drinking tea girl is straightforward transformation as her brain is not constantly on that shape but requires her to drink tea. It's also a somewhat ambiguous example as she's an anime original character as well There's still some weird quirks that don't seem to fall under a single category such as Tokoyami's, I think Dark Shadow is listed as emisor, even though he's very clearly a mutant

​@Cerri22PG physical mutations are seperate from mutation quirks, a person can inherit a mutation from a family member without it being their quirk. Like mina's acid is emitter but her horns are a mutation that is not her quirk. So tokoyami probably had a parent or grandparent with a bird head mutation which he simply inherited seperate from his quirk

Dark shadow is an emitter type. Tokyami’s bird head is a mutation similar to Mina’s horns but it isn’t a quirk

Damp is onomatopoeia in Japanese apparently. The Japanese language has a lot of onomatopoeia that the English language does not have, so this quirk is MUCH more versatile than it seems since it's wielded by someone that speaks Japanese. It's unknown how it works outside of Japan tho.

I love how random quirk distribution is in MHA. That news guy has horns that just sit there. Pony can shoot hers out like bullets and control them telepathically. One of the small villains at the USJ had a plant for a head. Shiozaki has full control over the plants that make up her hair. There is literally NO TELLING how broken or useless your ability could be.

How did dark shadow and explosion not make the list -dark shadow monster is always within tokoyami, that's why he can lose control of his quirk -bakugo always has bomb sweat, he can't make normal sweat Both of these are clearly mutant quirks because they create a permanent change in the body as opposed to emitter quirks that create or affect things outside the body or transformation quirks that create a temporary change in the body

If you did even a few seconds of research you'd see that both of those quirks aren't classified as mutant quirks. Even if it seems like they might be, they are not. Hope this helps!
