It's Alive ! BTW standard procedure for adjustment of MJ on Kart is to turn it rich until it 4 strokes at peak RPM, then turn it in a bit at a time until it just stops 4 stroking at peak. That gives you a "safe" mixture at peak Adjust low so it throttles off and on clean after MJ is tuned..

On rc boats we do the same but leave it so it just 4 strokes when holding the boats still in the water. Then we just hope it won't sieze up at wot if it lifts to much from the water.
@Hollaendaren6 жыл бұрын
I use the same procedure on Tillotson carbs on my snowmobiles. Start with the low speed, once its idling nice start with the high speed. I like to start like 3 turns out and work my way in until it stops 4 stroking. Goes for any carb really, I always try to start high on a new engine or after a modification. Sometimes it wants more than I anticipated though :)

Doesnt seem like a good idea to aim for highest RPM, easy to destroy your engine... Normally I tune chainsaws while under load. I once ported a chinese 43cc saw and wanted to see how far I can push it. The con rod blew into pieces at 19k. Had 19mm Zama carb that was suited for 63-75cc saws... Am I wrong?
@toargames6 жыл бұрын
The thing is when you tune a ported engine in the cut it will rise rpm @ wot when ported. Since you dont run near that max rpm in the cut this would be fine, its even possible that a saw like this will still 4 stroke hard @ wot. keep in mind this saw does stock 15500 rpm at WOT

Looks like your damper is restricting. It’s blowing gasses through every small leak haha
@ettla1236 жыл бұрын
Could aswell be making more power from being a restriction as it could in theory make for a stronger reversal of the exhaust pulse in the expansion chamber, who knows.. only way is to test with and without it ;)
@khenpaulw3116 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you seem to have a major leak at the silencer weld.
@InIMoeK6 жыл бұрын
Robin Sundell I think after the tail pipe there is no pulse interaction, unless the gasses cannot escape quick enough out of the tail pipe. But he should test without :)
@ettla1236 жыл бұрын
i believe that if there is a higher pressure in the stinger from a restricted muffler, it could make the reversal of the pulse stronger, just my thinking out loud. but i agree he should definately test it!

I had this struggle with my chainsaw carb aswell. It's really hard to adjust these carbs without a safe reference point. But my best tip is to adjust the low jet first and then adjust the mainjet. Then you get a solid base to adjust from. Also in my experience the pulse line is not nessecary when you got you fueltank above the carb since the fuel pressure will make the carb work anyway(atleast on small walboro carbs). Btw keep it up!

The black adjusting screw is for high-speed....., and as you just said, those carbs shall work in _any_ position. As you probably know(?), all of the two-stroke chainsaws ar using such diapraghma carburettors, without _any_ problems related to different positions. Nice results so far, looking forward to your next attempt! :-) Otherwise, normally, there's no "mounting it like it is supposed to be"-issue. I think your problem, as you also have mentioned already, is related to the "pulse situation". My guess is that you'll get a quite different result when the pulse"problem" is fixed. And yes, it may be a small challenge regarding the correct needle / adjusting screw settings, but this also would be a bit better with the right pulse-working.

Hi, here is some advice from Brazil.. i have use this carbs for some years now.. one time even instaled one of these carbs in a 4cilinder car... Hahaha If You use the vacuum hole in the carb tô Activate the inside pump, You can use the carb in any orientation! You have to use the inside pump! It Will make ALL the diference! Runs much better with the vacum LINE, makes it more tunneable.it Will be more progressive, and wont Lean out at highrevs. You shoud test It out, before losing your Head trying tô tune It without the vacum! Remenber tô check the popup pressure!! Setting the propper pressure in the popup Valve Will make the adjustment in the niddles feel more responssive. 1° vacum LINE 2° test diferent popup pressure 3° then You can tune by the neddles. Ps, watch out for the height of the arm that open the fuel.. It soud match the carb body... Sorry for any wrong words. Ps.2, Sorry If You already knou all these.. those are the things i wish someone have told me in the beggning, like "follow the yelow Brick road". Best of luck!

Those carbs does starve under prolonged g-forces if mounted with the membranes horizontally to the force applied as the membrane adjusting the pop-off pressure pushes harder against the valve needle. I had that issue on my paramotors when pulling high G's and after a lot of testing I found out that mounting them with the membranes vertically solved that problem. Probably not a problem you'll encounter on a moped though as it may take up to 3-4 G's, but in a "wall of death" it could become an issue.

3 needle I know I'm behind the 3 months. Closest to intake manifold or engine is low jet mid screw is high jet .. that 3rd screws is something different never seen it before super high jet.. this carby is probably for a 100cc or 125cc.. u may need to run a higher spring rate spring / on pop off pressure . Most likely both.. it will help you to control your low and high -wider working window.soo to lower a spring rate is rich higher is leaner.. higher the spring rate the harder the engine has to work to draw fuel from the carby..the u factor in the metering with the fulcrum arm to diaphragm .. higher metering arm more fuel lower leaner level with the body is close if not on the money... plus the ibea fulcrum arms wears and they get soft and flexible to the point I think it changes while running .. bad for tune if u can find a stainless arm from ether tilliston or tryton it will last longer and hold your settings true for longer..

i thing that if you bend your rotary valve,litl like propela on the edge.and make bigger housing for the bend to fit.2 things can happen,first it will boost the engine 2 the inaction of the fuel/air is not going to be a problem on hi rpm because the air fuel when it stops and starts has inaction.and slow down on hi rpm.thats a reason you cant go hi rpm.but with bent rotary valve the air/fuel has 2 ways to travel in the cylinder or around the rotary housing so never stops moving but get higher and higher speed,try it.
@2STROKESTUFFING6 жыл бұрын
Interesting idea. I fear this propeller would have to move alot faster than the crank tho, to not become just a restriction. There's a pretty huge amount of air passing through up in the rev range.
@johnpanteris2496 жыл бұрын
not a propela just a rotary valve with a bend on the start,it will keep when it close a amount of air fuel on the frond of it(cylinder side) spinning centrifuge for 180 degree ready to cam in the cylinder.on the back of rotary valve(calbulator size)when the rotary close the intake.the stream of air don't stop just continue spinning.this makes the two stroke engine continue filing the hole cylinder on hi rpm.so you produce hi power.i have try something like that(same idea)but on cylinder intake)just try not to stop the intake stream but instead changing roads.on a mtx125 engine.then it could rave on 14500 rpm easy production power up there.the mtx engine before that only go about 9000rpm.other modification a delordo 32 whit 280 fuel jet!! it work whith no problem hi or low rpm....so something is there.

i will try to explain with my poor English,iam a Greek man.the most difficult thing on 2 stroke engine in my opinion is to fill with mixture the upper side of cylinder and the back of the piston.the upper side o the cylinder i difficult because the ports on cylinder is just over the piston when its far down.and when they open they one is oposit to either so the mixture from one crash to the mixture of the other and loose speed,after that the mixture try to travel up to the top of cylinder.this take time.so the most of the time the cc of the cylinder is not complete full.as the rpm go up the more the cylinder not full.till you fell the power drop suddenly.before the inaction of piston rod stops the engine.so first thing is to fill the upper side of cylinder with mixture,i did that by making on the top of the piston litl ramps were the intake ports are.i did the ramps by grinding the piston head with a little disc tool.the results were more than i expected.low or hi rpm the engine felt like more cc and try it you will see...more comming next

john panteris essentially what u did is port it. U changed the port timing. When I do r&d on new cylinders I build from scratch that is how much to alter, verse cutting the port timing to much and that’s a lot more expensive any time consuming. Usually I’m within . .25-1.5 degrees with my algorithm

Pulseline connected to crankcase is what gokart guy's do. Also is that a 28mm ibea?
@2STROKESTUFFING6 жыл бұрын
Yep, that's how it's supposed to be. 29.5mm

Hva har du tenkt å gjøre med sykkelen når du er ferdig å "tune/bygge" den?
@2STROKESTUFFING6 жыл бұрын
Aner ikke, men ingen fare - blir nok aldri ferdig...

i would say that it's would be more optimal to have a pulse line that goes into the crankcase
@2STROKESTUFFING6 жыл бұрын
Probably, I'll see how it goes.

Pulse is pulse. Carb has no idea or cares about where it comes from

Speaking of rotary... have you heard of the liquid piston engine? It's a four stroke, three chambered engine that has ports rather than valves. It's described as an "inside-out wankel". It seems like ot would be simple enough to duplicate.

How did you learn everything you know about 2 strokes???
@2STROKESTUFFING6 жыл бұрын
Being obsessed with 2 strokes for many years you're bound to pick up a thing or two.

2STROKE STUFFING plus lots of trial and error, mostly errors for me the first 5ish years doin mods. Been building for 30 years now and thank god them days are gone. Very expensive. A cheaper way to practice porting is to cut the actual piston crown and skirt. Can get the exact same effect that’s not permanent or as expensive as a cylinder. I figured that one out myself lol
