Glad to hear someone FINALLY mention the CMC origins. I think he came out with the prototype in like 86'. Nice review from an actual shooter!! SUBBED. I did the same thing with a Staccato P, and I'm going through the same "remove and replace" with a Tisas / MAC.

Thank you for mentioning about "CMC". I am new to 1911's (they have taken over my world) and I do not know how I missed that info. Something I need to learn about !!!!! 🙂

Glad to see this review, I bought a 4.5" prodigy on a whim, used (I don't usually buy used) and despite knowing better, took it to the range and ran it dry immediately. I bought it with no real intended purpose, I've already got carry and nightstand and variable situations covered, and thought I had just bought a paperweight. I did what I should've done to begin with and stripped and cleaned and oiled, and it's not had a failure since. I have the same gripe with it dirtying up the optic, but considering mine has the hex dragonfly on it, I don't worry too much. I haven't decided if I want to change it to the holosun 507c like I have on my walther, that I love. I do rather enjoy the gun, I wish the slide release had more purchase, and I'm adjusting to the trigger, the walther has me spoiled, I'm no competitive shooter by any stretch of the imagination. I've considered lightening up the hammer spring a bit, but haven't gone down that road yet. I appreciated your review and details provided on how you've modified yours to run your matches. Good info, thank you.

Love all of this. But I will say I would’ve loved to see what would have happened if you just let the stock gun run on its own and push it until it just couldn’t anymore
@2strokeYardSale8 ай бұрын
Leaving it box stock is not the nature of the Limited Optics division nor 2011s in general. I can't imagine trying to race a motorcycle off the showroom floor without replacing the tires, adjusting the controls and suspension, tuning the air:fuel ratio, putting on my favorite grips, etc.
@Texano5-08 ай бұрын
@@2strokeYardSale I understand that, but using that same analogy, if you take a motorcycle off the showroom floor and replace the motor, and the front and rear suspension, and then take do a mileage review on it, it’s not really a good test of the actual motorcycle because the majority of the parts that matter when it comes to reliability have been swapped for possibly superior/inferior parts. I came to this review from an average gun user perspective. I’m not interested in having to modify my firearm’s internals in order for it to work properly. If I find a gun that catches my interest but I find out it performs sub par, especially in reliability, I’m just not gonna purchase it. I personally don’t have any interest in MAKING my gun work properly, I want a gun that’ll work properly out the gate.

@@Texano5-0 To each his own. Then 2011s are not the pistol for you, and you probably don't tune your reloads if you reload at all. Not a dig or a cut to you. But I personally enjoy tinkering with firearms to get them to where I like them and they fit my style of shooting. I have a moderately customized 4.25 Prodigy that now runs excellent with upgraded parts. Right at a 3 lb trigger and 10lb recoil spring. Works for me . 2011s have always been finicky . Even Atlas $5,000 2011s need tuning. At it's price point the Prodigy is a bargain IMO. Just hit 1,000 rnds and it's beginning to really shine as an el Cheapo race gun.

@@Renrondog I'm with Texano5-0....I want to buy a pistol that operates like it is supposed to out of the box without changing everything out. I have no issue with custom built guns but what good is buying a 2011 if you have to change everything out? As a LEO, I depend on these weapons every day of my life and would like to be able to have a 2011 that I don't have to "trick" out or pay an arm and leg for. I came here looking for a review of a stock pistol.

Impact Machine rolling out an RTS2 plate for the prodigy in the upcoming weeks. Was gonna pick it up to use with a Romeo 3 Max

I think I had one of their very first RTS 2 plates months ago. It took Scott sending me 3 or4 different plates with QC issues to finally get it right. Kudos to Scott for standing by his product. It works but there are areas for improvement for more support. For peace of mind I just got their RMR plate and slapped a Holosun 507C to be done with it.

It seems a lot of people are having loose plates, I think because their right screw is too long and contacting the extractor.
@TheAmerican19637 ай бұрын
@@2strokeYardSale I think you are correct. Sorry I did not mention but I did shorten the right screw. Probably because twice at around 500 rounds they both came loose but the right one was significantly backed out compared to the left. This I thought caused the left to eventually loosen.

Shoot it for awhile before you decide to "upgrade". Then, just go to EGW and order an "Ignition Kit". I also use their safety, slide lock and mainspring housing (17 lbs. spring). The only "custom" work I had done was the grip safety. I had fitted one that has a bigger engagement "bump" to make my grip less extreme. I went to a Dawson 11lbs. recoils spring with buffer and an EGW magwell. Shoots like a dream and never have any hiccups .................

Did you just say unfortunate rail?
@2strokeYardSale5 күн бұрын
Frame rail has one purpose, a light, and a 2011 is a race gun that has no business with a light. Those cuts cost time and money and reduced useful weight in the frame dust cover. That's unfortunate.

I'm not sure if the comments are from Bots or people just don't understand 2011 style race guns... some folks just like stock glocks and that's OK. I like to tinker and make it MY gun, the way I personally like it to shoot. I have modded each and every gun I own, even my English Stock 20ga. Citori O/U which was perfect in stock configuration. I just wore the finish off of it and had to replace the polyurethane.

@@AvgKsHunter If you change the tires, exhaust, shock absorbers, plug wires and headlights does that change the kind of car it is? Of course not. Is his Prodigy stock? Hell no , neither is mine or most others who purchase a Prodigy. We bought them to build them up to what fits our needs and desires. $1,300 for the Prodigy + $400 in upgrades is a great deal IMO compared to a $3,000 Staccato. Is the Staccato better? Probably, but $1,300 buys a lot of ammo
