[3.2] Genshin Impact Chapter 3 Act 5 Recap & Analysis

There was an incredible amount of lore dropped on us this patch. So much that it's impossible for me to cover it all in a single video, so here's a quick recap of the whole quest plus my preliminary thoughts.
I hope you all enjoyed this quest as much as I did! Definitely one of the best quests in the entire game to date.

If Paimon really is the 1st descender, the Primordial then Paimon might have pretended that she didn't know the OG Dendro Archon. P.S. Nahida said that the heavenly principles is the 1st descender but I think she got it wrong cuz no one know about the Primordial and what's in Enkanomiya.

i don't really think paimon is a descender because paimon seem to forget rukkhadevata after nahida erase her. We can see paimon forget her when everybody talk about nahida but traveller remember rukkhadevata which mean paimon is binded by the world of teyvat

Signora's case was completely personal. She hates Barbatos for not protecting Mondstadt during the Cataclysm (although he fought against Durin and saved the city) and caused the love of her life to die. With Morax and Raiden she was very professional and used negotiation.

that's what I was thinking too, she was probably meant to negotiate with venti as well, but just decided to say fuck it because she hated him. the other Fatui members even criticized her actions lol

Let's not also forget that Nahida threatened to break the gnoses if Dottore tried to take them by force, heavily implying that the Unknown God (or some other representative of the Heavenly Principles) would come down and smite them for breaking them. She basically bluffed her way into negotiations with Dottore ("you take this by force, I'll break it. you won't leave until you have it, so let's make a deal, that way we're all slightly unhappy.")

The Sumeru quest line is definitely the longest archon quest so far. It was certainly amazing in my opinion. The team we formed throughout it was pretty nice as well.

I have to agree. Not perfect at all but it's the first time imo that the story telling actually approached the quality of the lore and world building we've always had. I think lore/world building wise, Genshin has always been pretty solid to great even. Mondstadt may have been a bit generic in it's story telling but gets the point across effectively. Liyue was a poorly paced story, at best, with good world building. Inazuma's story telling, to me at least, was a wreck despite having great lore/world building. Sumeru, imo, makes a genuine attempt to combine these elements into a cohesive experience that is just more impactful on a general scale. It's way more info to crunch to the average player, in a palatable format anyways, than we've been offered before. Playable characters matter more, the dialog is more revealing and the base info obtained is objectively crucial. Again, not perfect, but a very serious step in the right direction overall. I have faith that, by the time this is all wrapping up, we will have a properly told tale that capitalizes on its strong roots laid along the way. That's all I really care about in the end.

@@teyvatato2148 i agree despite some misssteps here and there most of them are minor like collei and dunyarzard gets underused and act 4 being a bit of slog go through, i think its a step in the right direction where the highs overshadowed the lows instead of the otherway around like lyue and inazuma (especially you inazuma)

Isn't Albedo's case similar to Scaramouche? He's not human as well and he somehow got a vision. I actually hope Scaramouche getting a vision will be explained further in the main story or his quest

Albedo is alive in the sense that he has a heart and he can breath like every living being and he’s mainly an organic based life-form. It’s no different to In-Gen making dinosaurs. Scaramouche on the other hand is an automaton given a complex system or program that’s merely a facade to a real living human being, in a sense he’s not a real person but something mimicking one. Although we do know he has free will since he willing chose to join the fatui because according to him they were “fun to be around” as well as many other things.

I feel like the fact the Greater Lord said that Nahida is her "in this Samsara" implies this is just a thing the Dendro archon goes through every thousand years or so. Which is slightly horrifying cause then who knows how many iterations has been lost forever. Like who knows if the one that helped the Scarlet King is the Greater Lord or if that was the just the Dendro archon before even her.

The fact that the Dendro Archon is an Avatar or Irminsul that contains memories and records of the entire world of Teyvat, means her existence could go all the way back to the world creation…her role seems much more important to Teyvat compared to the other Archons we met…I wonder if the other Gods have left her alone during the Archon war to avoid risk of destroying Irminsul indirectly destroying Teyvat?

Paimon being a seelie isn't becoming less likely! Even the corruption resistance/immunity tracks, since 3 out of the 5 seelie types we've seen have an effect that counteracts leyline weirdness. (Warming seelie in Dragonspine, Luminous Seelie in Chasm, Seelies of Life in Withering Zones). I think the Electro Seelies on Tsurumi also counteract the fog effect, but I can't test that to be sure and I'm of the opinion that we'll come back to Tsurumi later for more Nail-esque lore.

Now i m leaning towards lochfolks being seelies, oceanid srsly looks like one and the Heart of Springs fictional storybook very much implied how lochfolk gets their power from the moon. Remember seelies and 3 moon sisters were one big unified civilisation? Someone said childe foul legacy form looks like a seelie. So maybe his master Skirk in abyss also of seelie race? This is torture we can't even trust non npc sources, everything can rewritten by irminsul

Arama was talking about the seelie race in this part of the aranyaka quest.

Thank you thank you for seeing the parallels between Nahida and Scara. The way the two ended up interacting was beautifully done imo. Seeing Nahida locked up, questioning herself and calling herself worthless, only for the Traveler to say “you should’ve been angry ages ago” was absolutely amazing. And then it followed with Scara as a parallel, the complete opposite, externalizing the way he felt, becoming arrogant, and overflowing with rage. When Nahida took the gnosis it wasn’t just a transfer of power. Scara gave up his power (the mech, via the tethers), and all of his pride to *beg* for the gnosis. Nahida on the other hand had finally resolved to fight for herself, to be angry, to have courage, but she looks up at him and sees the pain. That moment is just so perfectly executed. Just a side note if you didn’t notice, isn’t it weird that Scara fell prey to Nahida’s dream powers when Scara’s special talent is supposed to be rousing himself from even the deepest slumber? I wonder if there’s something there. Also is his vision a dream catcher?

On Dottore being too casual with Nahida, I think it's because he doesn't harbor any grudge towards gods and especially his own god the God of wisdom. He got kicked out of the academia(mostly the student I don't thing Rukkadevata had anything to do with that) and joined the Fatui on the basis that he recieves almost unlimited resources in exchange for his experiments. Signora on the other hand, holds a massive grudge towards venti but is more casual and professional with Zhongli and Raiden. Dottore also seems to value his identity as a scholar more than a follower of the Tsaritsa, so he'd probably rather have a mental battle with the God of wisdom than take the gnosis by force. I also just think that the Tsaritsa doesn't hate or dislike any of the archons since to me, she really doesn't appear like the big bad but instead will prolly be the most tragic god we'll meet. From what we've seen from the other archons they are almost completely held by their own values that it sometimes backfires on them (Rukkadevata being erased from knowing of the forbidden knowledge, Raiden's futile pursuit of eternity in an everchanging world, Zhongli's commitment to uphold contracts no matter the price, Venti's freedom resulting in negligence to chaos etc.). So the events of the cataclysm I assume probably broke the Tsaritsa more than other gods because of her virtue of being the Goddess of love, so she appears cold but still remains that affectionate side that she's keeping locked up. All the evils and warcrimes the Fatui commit can just be chalked up to Pierro being in charge of the harbingers. The only ones to seem to hold animosity towards all archons seems to be ones that came from the ruined country of Dain and otherwise would just depend on the Harbinger's personal relations to their respective gods.

i agree with a lot of what you said but i don’t think it’s fair to say all the crimes the fatui commit can be chalked up to just Pierro. he along with all the other harbingers and fatui answer to the Tsaritsa, she is still in charge and the harbingers are there to enact her will. even if she isn’t the one who orders those crimes to happen she has to know about them and not put a stop to them. ultimately it is still her responsibility what her soldiers and diplomats do

@@teasoup @velvet sundae I dont think Pierro is a purely bad guy or that the Tsaritsa is anywhere near innocent, but moreso that I think he's more the ruthless type of leader and a lot more of the active chain of command. With the current state of the Tsaritsa in my current headcannon theory, she's most likely gonna act like a kuudere where she's apathetic to everything. So the chain of command would go like: Tsaritsa: Harbingers, get gnosis Pierro: I just sent Dottore, but he might burn down a city on accident or something. Tsaritsa:.... ... ...ok It's basically the Raiden puppet thing, but to an extreme since she's litterally ice cold. In summary, I personally think most of the active commands come from Pierro, like who's in charge of finding scaramouche and the gnosis. Most of the info regarding morality are either kept with Pierro or mentally blocked by the Tsaritsa, and the rest of the dubious stuff are up to the harbingers, especially the colder ones like Dottore, columbina, Sandrone, and to an extent Pantalone. I still do think she's more guilty than say Ei with her 1 year of the vision hunt Decree, but with how Genshin's writing is improving(hopefully) they'll have to give a good story the the whole of snezhnaya(?) and even if they give the Tsaritsa the same story beats as Ei it'll hopefully be executed 100x better.(srry If I can't write concisely and my points are messy, it's 4 am and I have College work due but I'd rather talk about Genshin lore)

Yes I’m so glad someone noticed the fate Scaramouche narrowly avoided. We indirectly saved him from suffering the same fate as Rhukkadevata, as well as being a confined databank for the Akademiya to use for their own interests. It hurts so much to see his fall, but it’s also for the better considering the alternative. Also, his story as a whole is so sad. And I agree, there are too many discrepancies between the 3.1 cutscene and the husk set, there is something behind the scenes that Dottore is involved with. Thanks for the mention (alongside my friends!) in the chess theory, btw! Here is hoping it continues, especially since Nahida’s analogy of comparing the Archon War to a game/simple secret is way too sus. Paimon super sus

agreed except: why is everyone so convinced paimon is sus? her most likely identity, from all lore thus far, is that of a regressed god (NOT of time, the time-pausing mechanic is a skill of Traveler not Paimon: if you place Paimon in the serenitea pot, she doesn't show up when you open the menu but time still pauses). i had initially thought Paimon would be an avatar of Irminsul (her iconography matches that of the irminsul branches in domains) but... turns out that that's Buer. since Paimon also succumbed to the Memory Wipe of the Greater Lord, Paimon is confirmed as Not An Alien/Descender. both venti & zhongli are under Celestial NDA, ei didn't hang out with the other archons much, nahida has amnesia: it's entirely possible that Paimon was recognised by the first 2 & forgotten by the latter 2. they're all named in the ars goettia & have turned out to be Good Guys: there is also a lot of association between the Traveler (& the Abyss Sibling) and Lucifer, to whom the demon!Paimon is absolutely loyal. the similarities between Nahida & Paimon are RIDICULOUS, making me even more confident in assuming that she is a long-lost god (most possibly of stars & thus fate/prediction).

The whole Sumeru Archon quest is one of my favorite. The Scaramouche scene is amazing, from godly to being nothing, it was affective and effective. The scene between Nahida and Rukkhaadevata is as great as when Ei and Makoto met, it was bittersweet but beautiful. Cinematigraphy and Edit were on point. Every vital characters has good screentime. The Lore bomb at the end was executed well. It wasnt perfect but so much better than some previous Archon quests. I give it a 8/10.

I came up with this a few days ago; I have this tiny feeling that, and I'll explain why in a second, Dainsleif re-wrote Lumine into Irminsul as an attempt to save her. Dainsleif, the "Bough Keeper", theoretically involved with Irminsul, used to travel with Lumine. He once mentioned, "...unfortunately, we did not reach the end of our journeys together" (paraphrased). Nahida just showed us you can re-write (or un-write) someone's existence, and she also said that towards the end of Lumine's journey, something weird happens, and she believes there's something, or someone, at play. Which brings me back to Dainsleif saying "Defeat me, command me to step aside, show me that you are worthier than I to rescue her. Then, the threads of all fate are yours to re-weave." in the travail trailer. (focus on the usage of re-weave) Now, this is where I believe the Abyss is involved, and why Dainsleif has such hatred for them. The Abyss is from "beyond this world" as you concluded in this video, so Lumine's records going aloof towards the end of her journey aligns with Dainsleif saying they didn't reach the end of their journeys together. I'm still bewildered why she's written into Irminsul and became part of this world though, but simply assuming Dainsleif is somehow at play is for now just the most logical theory for me. We should know more about this later on. She was mentioned to have suddenly appeared AFTER the Cataclysm, and she said this world is not safe(? or accepting? i forgor) to outlanders. Which is why I think Dainsleif tried helping her there, but I'm completely unsure.

He's very mysterious, but he obviously feels very strongly against the Abyss, and towards Lumine, too. Another theory is the Abyss wrote Lumine into Teyvat in order to trick her (which explains why she called it her 'homeland'), and Dain, being the Bough Keeper, is aware she's not originally supposed to be part of Irminsul, and therefore Teyvat, and is trying to save her by writing her *out of* Irminsul. Sadly I feel like this makes what he says in the travail trailer make less sense, but who knows.

It implies a level of familiarity between mc and himself, and Venti is taken aback by the fact that mc doesn't know him. Could Venti be lying and actually be immune but aware of Irminsul memory manipulation?

That could actually make sense. We know that anemo archon has some sort of relationship with the God of time, which is a shade of Phanes or The First who came that majority believes to be The Heavenly Principles mentioned by Nahida. So Venti could somehow retain his memories by being somehow connected to the being that's from beyond Teyvat.

I think you actually answered your own question about Eleazar vs. the Withering-- Eleazar is more of a form of corruption, while the Withering is like pollution. When Irminsul was restored, it seems it could be possible that the things that had been scrambled up (like what Eleazar did) were put back in order, but things that were polluted with new "data" will still need manual recovery. Great video as always though :)) love your Scara analysis as always... so excited for more of him

There's also the element to consider that the people's dreams were taken by Rukkhadevata to help expunge the Forbidden Knowledge from Irminsul, and as she returned them to the people, people's Eleazar was cured. It could then be surmised that people's own dreams returning to them cured their Eleazar. The forest, however, is being corrupted by Marana's Avatar, who still exists in the world despite Forbidden Knowledge being removed from Irminsul (considering you can do the entire Aranara quest after finishing Act 5). So, whatever the reason is that Marana's Avatar can still exist in the world (and whatever Marana's Avatar is, exactly) would be the reason why the Withering persists while Eleazar does not.

I was worried that it would feel really rushed since it felt that the set up was just finished after the first four acts. But it turned out great. The plan actually felt clever without feeling contrived and made taking down the academia in a single act believable.

I think Traveler being hostile with Signora when he saw her again is understandable considering the fact the npc who was our friend died and traveler was still blinded by rage. While when he met Scaramouche in the archon quest he was much calmer like he usually is

That's because we're already bombarded with his backstory before meeting him again. His sob story, his family ties with Ei, and him protecting us unwittingly from Dottore's goons make our stance on him soften

I love this whole video but seeing someone actually analyze Scaramouche makes me so happy. I like his character a lot, and its disheartening to see so many of his fans seem to take his actions at face value. I don't know, just having some recognition that he does not actually see himself as this grand, mighty figure is really nice.

i mean, his actions lead him to judge every human/god so it isn't weird that people don't like him. His sad and misunderstood self doesn't negate the wrongs he did to innocent people. He's still an interesting character and i like how he sticks to his values (although ethically wrong). I'm not a fan of his because of how bratty his personality is (an extreme edgy boi lol) but i do pity of what he ended up becoming

I want to say Dottore is a special case among the harbingers, in that he really is a scholar at heart and probably cares a tiny bit more about his research and experiments than the agenda of the Tsaritsa and the other harbingers. If that's the case, it would make sense he would have a bit more respect for Nahida as the god of wisdom and negotiate with her instead of using force.

19:13 I think Wei proposed the theory that the Archons (+Yae Miko on Ei’s behalf) are actually aware of the Tsaritsa’s goal and have been letting her take the gnoses willingly but under the guise that the Fatui Harbingers are stealing/forcing them to. I don’t think the Tsaritsa wants to harm the other Archons since they used to be friends apparently. And Dottore respects her so he followed her instructions to make deals with Nahida rather than use violence. Venti, Alice, and Yae Miko all being old friends makes me think there’s a secret international “overthrow celestia” club. It also could have just been a difference in Rosalyne and Dottore’s characters. Rosalyne loathed Barbatos for not saving Rostam so her violence against him while taking his gnosis was personal and in character for her. Whereas Dottore (presumably Zandik) might not have any personal animosity against his Archon nor does he see a reason to exert himself and use violence to get what he wants when he can just talk his way into getting 2 gnoses. Edit: We also see that Signora attempted to bargain for the Geo and Electro Gnoses too. She literally just wanted to physically hurt Venti as far as I can tell.

The relationships she shared with all the other archons (especially Venti) went to hell but there’s nothing to gain by forcefully taking it from them. Venti didn’t put up much of a fight or seem to care about it being taken from him so he may have already been expecting it.

About Dottore not going agressive with Nahida, I have three takes: 1. Heavenly Principles, maybe killing an ARCHON of all things can make Celestia "wake up", declaring a second archon war, one thing is getting chess pieces, other thing is actually destroying the system by removing the "moderators" of Teyvat 2. As Tartaglia says "Tsaritsa is a gentle soul", while she and the fatui have this "bad side" to them, she will not opt for unnecessary killing and destruction, if they do that they will be no different from the heavenly principles. And so the harbingers problaby need to follow a rule of "no extreme violence" to the archons and the people of teyvat, unless necessary (that would explain why the harbingers don't do free killing, like how Dottore just decided to not go nuts with Tighnari) 3. getting too aggressive can make the entire of Teyvat declare war to snezhnaya, being diplomatic and just removing a gnosis can avoid this. The fatui operation is just going smooth due to the effects of the cataclysm into each archon, making them question Celestia (or in case of Nahida, being jailed), but if the Fatui start getting REALLY aggressive, that mindset can change If the fatui had this liberty to choose violence, they would just get all harbingers together and go into a complete Teyvat sweep, getting the gnosis in like 2 months, however they actually go into well-constructed plans, even sacrificing some harbingers (like Signora or Scara) for the sake of it.

Exactly Fatui do whatever they can, because if they awake heavenly Principles they got destroyed. Also they have already collected 5 gnoses and have Harbingers which powers can be comparable to gods. And above that they know truth about world. Archons fought in Khaeanriah and really don't want to calamity happen again do they don't hold to their gnoses to much. But what gnoses power really mean? Zhongli lost his status as geo archon, don't know if this happens after he lost gnosis or false death.And visions don't come from archons then from where?, Celestia is absent, Heavenly Principles don't care now.

Nahida already knows everything Fatui do, and probably everything Tsaritsa do.. she can simply extract such knowledge from Irminsul. So to exchange knowledge with Nahida for the Gnosis is impressive. Because it's knowledge that Irminsul purposefully hide from the world and from the Dendro archon as well. Also .. greater lord getting tasked to go to Irminsul and not Khaenraia during cataclysm is also major. It mean Celestia was overwhelmed.. they had to fight in all fronts at once, even at the Irminsul that no one should access but Dendro archon. I think Khaenraia pulled something like what Al-Haytham did .. they could find a data hub, and inserted forbidden knowledge into it that it reached Irminsul. Then Irminsul started to spread it over the entire world. Archons not immune to such forbidden knowledge, so they were fighting a losing battle.. only Asmoday with her space magic could contain the forbidden knowledge in cubes, stripping people and places from their souls in the process. I'm starting to believe Makoto didn't just die or get killed in Khaenraia.. she might have been purposefully sacrificed by other archons to trigger insanely strong destruction to give archons an edge. Which make sense why Makoto wanted to hide Ei, she didn't want them sacrificing Ei again..that would too cruel on both sisters. Makoto getting the seed of Sacred Sakura in Khaenraia mean that not only space shade/Asmoday/sustainer was there.. but also Istaroth was there. Which mean, Celestia had mobilized everything in the face of that cataclysm.. and they got heavy casualties. Now all of this should connect to the second descender, the one who brought alien things into Tyvat. Khaenraia must have reached his prison or gained his knowledge and triggered a second world ending event.

uhh the fatui def wouldn't be able to just sweep and get the gnosis that easily and quickly if they chose full violence, it'd prob be way harder for them lol. like u said the hostile approach wud make nations respond aggressively back. no matter how strong snezhnaya is even they would struggle against military demi-gods of liyue, inazuma and possibly fontaine/natlan. they would stand no chance if those nations ever formed alliances too. especially knowing that trying to start a war of that scale will prob awaken celestia that could lead to another cataclysm.

They would have to send their strongest just to deal with Liyue because Xiao,Shenhe and the adepti. 26:20 - I stumbled upon one world quest with Aranara ("Until Vana is Healed") where Rukkhadevata's name wasn't erased after completing Archon Quest. It didn't make any sense for Ararycan to remember her, so I believe this and other places where Rukkha's name still exists might be just game errors, rather than something connected to lore.

I agree. It’s one reason I am always very skeptical of lore analyses that rely on very specific, isolated pieces of information. We have to remember that, even though HoYo does an amazing job with their attention to detail, we are seeing a story written by people, and translated into a second language. There will be errors, omissions, and even outright mistakes on the part of the writers. I’ve heard that famous novelists have relied on fan wikis for their works to keep track of their own universe’s continuity, because fans often pay way more attention than they do. ;-)

The Heavenly Principles is the Sustainer, somehow Global messed up the translation of the text and name. In the asian translation she referrers to herself as the Heavenly Principles not the sustainer. A lot of these miss translations have messed up some of the theories in the beginning when people found out about this issue.

Honestly, I share that theory Ei made Scaramouche in Makoto's image and it's also why I think it's part of the reason she sealed his powers and sent him to sleep for eternity. She noticed he shed tears in dreams, thus deeming him too fragile for the task of storing her Gnosis, and because Makoto was also a gentle god who "barely wielded a blade in her life" ( quoted from Ei's 2nd story quest ), Ei was reminded of Makoto and was afraid Scaramouche would share her fate if she kept him as a puppet for her divine will. It could be a reach, but it makes sense in my little jingling brain, I suppose.

And after witnessing how heavy the gnosis was to bear to a non deity/archon being, she made an impulse decision in discarding him, stopped bothering with creating anything to hold the gnosis, and made a puppet based on herself, and gave it to Yae Miko.

Seeing the sibling getting captured cutscene again. It looked like the sustainer of heavenly principles broke down the sibling into smaller cubes, maybe smaller data chunks. While the traveler was captured completely. This might explain why Irmunsul thinks that the sibling is from this world because his existence was inputted into the Irmunsul by the Sustainer. While we were just left into this world, probably to do a mission with Paimon guiding us.

The Fatui are loyal to the Tsaritsa, an Archon, so I think it makes sense that they have some respect for them and do not act with violence. Like, if you question and confront all archons, it may affect how you view your own archon, and she probably doesn't want that happening, so she might have forbid them from acting like that to the other gods.

Something that got me thinking about this quest is that all these negative phenomena like elezar and the withering are not caused by the forbidden knowledge itself, they are just a consequence of the world trying to reject this knowledge. Perhaps Irminsul already knows what this knowledge consists of but tries to hide it (as Dottore mentions) and all these phenomena are a punishment for trying to access it.

@@grande6670 Part of it. As Gun Girls Z, Honkai, Genshin, and Star Rail are from the same multiverse, being worlds connected to the Imaginary Tree, the possibility of the theory was high. In the captainverse stories in Honkai, and the worlds/universes visited by the Astral Express crew in Star Rail, the key terminologies in HI3 have different naming senses/methods of executions, in a way allow the stories to be standalone to some extent. So far characters from Genshin have aspects of several individuals from their sister games; - Archon abilities are co-related to Herrschers and Divine Keys - 11 Fatui Harbringers are mirror/parallel of the 13 Flamechasers, in terms of character traits, abilities and methods, though with the same cause - Traveller's abilities parallel the Key of Blankness; gain specific skills/abilities depending on the Herrscher core/elemental power taken in.

I'm not so sure Honkai are an actual threat to Teyvat. With time in Teyvat acting all funky, it seems more likely to exist in the sea of quanta, with Irminsul basically acting as a faux world tree to stop everything being 'burned away'. Wherever Teyvat IS located, I don't think it's on the world tree. It's unclear if Honkai exists/are active in the sea of quanta. Who knows? Our information on the Honkai that we're provided with is technically speculation anyway.

The Gnosis system is also similar to the 7 gems on Durandal's sword in London Holidays manga, which highlights more on bubble universes, ether anchors and Sea of Quanta. It can be assumed that Teyvat was originally a bubble universe sinking into the sea of quanta, the vishaps are Honkai beasts in different terms. The primodial one (assumed to be Griseo) found it and uses the ether anchor to support the world. Even though it helps kerping the world together, the problem is the limited energy, resulted in unstable time flow/memory.

Your theory actually makes sense. Venti said that there's a meaning in our journey so our sibling traveled the world (we don't really know if they traveled in Teyvat or Khaenriah) first with Dain, she reached the end of her journey but we don't know what her conclusion was. Then after the cataclysm she traveled the world again (maybe she traveled around Khaenriah first and then traveled in Teyvat) and found her answer. One thing I'm most concerned about is how both siblings ended up in Teyvat or Khaenriah if they were captured by the Unknown God. She could've imprisoned them or simply killed them, I don't think she would intentionally drop them in Teyvat (unless she considers 'a prison') since she our 'journey ends here'. So I believe 'some unknown entity' took us and our sibling and dropped us in different points in time. Notice that we only appeared 500 years later and this is the exact time that all the major events in Teyvat are taking place.

The abyss twin could have been changed by Celestia when the curse was placed. This explains why Irminsul has a record of her and states that she “suddenly” arrived in Khaenriah. Its also suprising that she started to travel AFTER the cataclysm. I’ve always thought that it was before

I mean I think Lumine just traveled with Dainsleif before Khaenri'ah fell. We were already pretty close to Paimon by the time we got to Liyue, so it's not as if Lumine had to travel through every nation to develop a camaraderie with him. Plus them also both being in Khaenri'ah.

Imagine at the end we find out that the entire lore of genshin is a roundabout analogy of us literally being in a computer game. The design choices of Nahida struck me especially how Electro and Dendro synergize so well. What if Nahida is just the system admin in charge of managing Genshin's data files and the final boss would actually be Dawei himself

Regarding the whole "Dottore not attacking nahida and instead taking the deal" thing, I think it might be a case of killing archons just being a bad thing in general. In zhongli's story quest we see the aftermath of the death of the salt god, who we hear about in that quest as not being that strong either, yet her death killed every single person in that little underground town. If Dottore attacked nahida, he may risk killing her, and if she dies, well who the hell knows what'd happen to sumeru, or dottore who's in the "Blast zone" so to speak

Or... the fact that she is essentially the only one at this point who can deal with threats to the ley-lines. I don't think the Fatui would want to deal with that kind of thing, let alone have the ability. Well, to be fair, the Fatui had no issues handling divine knowledge, with the possibility of inflicting Irminsul with the very same forbidden knowledge that Rukkhadevata tried to contain. But.. I don't think anyone (apart from us) even knew that that's possible, so I'm assuming they didn't knowingly endanger the system. But I think they _do_ know that Kusanali is the only one who can actually help if _something_ goes wrong with the tree (as is recorded in history), so maybe it's beneficial to keep her around.

I think the Sumeru Archon quests aren't finished yet. From the Genshin main trailer, every nation has a specific chapter name, and these chapter names actually appear as quest titles in game. For Sumeru, the chapter title was "The Truth Amongst the Pages of Purana" which we haven't seen in game yet, so I'm excited to see what happens next.

I believe the reason why the appearance of remnant of Rukkhadevata looked like Nahida's is because that she exhausted her power during the Cataclysm which changed her teenage form into child-like form since this was the second time that she exhausted her power. The first time was when she assisted King Deshret to repel forbidden knowledge a thousand year ago and that caused her appearance to be changed from adult to teenager.

At least in my opinion, if you look at the ending animatic cutscene in Archon quest 3 part 3, you are gonna see that her form was changed from adult-like to teenager-like. But, in the cutscene where Greater lord Rukkhadevata was snapping the branch out of Irmunsul tree. You can see that her appearance was in child-like state as that of Nahida's which implied that her form has changed another time during the cataclysm due to power exhaustion and she ultimately died after Nahida's creation (I think this used every last drop of her remaining power).

Girl, coming back to this after the fontain archon quest and checking your gnosis(chess game) approach, we could definitely see the draw on the match, I am just so hype and wonder if you will bring this up on the video about 4.2, I just needed to share this insight , because o my, celestia won( the prophecy was fulfilled) but also fontainians(and by extend the fatui,they got the gnosis) won, so ita so crazy that this theory cannot be discarded just yet. My theory about the twins after finishing this quest is that they were once one singular being. After arriving in Teyvat they got split into two for some reason and their memories were altered so that they think it was always the two of them. Would explain why the abyss twin is from this world while the traveler isn't. From what I remember, the opening showed the twins as two stars flying very close to each other through the sky. This might've been right after the split happened. ALSO, the battle pass cutscene (which has been the same since 1.0, might I add) very likely was inspired by the story of Adam and Eve. Who's to say that that story wasn't used as the basis for something else in Genshin?

regarding scara, an interesting note about his theme - there's this beautiful section of about 20ish seconds with a solo male (tenor) voice which gradually climbs, it sounds like heaving and struggling and heavy breathing patterns; devastating, really - well it just so happens that this is the only part of the theme in japanese (according to the lyrics transcription i found), which is so cool bc it symbolizes that the munchkin didn't scrub away *every* last bit of human emotion :') (the part that comes immediately after is in latin, and the music devices used make it sound very contemplative and like he's listing things, which could signify him questioning whether what he's doing is the right thing to do, it's very very cool) edit: i realize this sounds weird without the musical context, but the "heaving" part starts at around 01:00 and the "contemplation" at around 01:11 in one of the full boss theme videos

If I recall it was right after! She was killed by mistake during a fight between the archons during the archon war and they all felt so awful they combined power to bring her back from the dead, and her vision is cryo bc as she was dying her last thought was how she wished she could "freeze time" in order to be with her family for longer. Then post resurrection she essentially went a bit rabid and started attacking everything so the archons trapped her in a large chunk of those orange rocks in Liyue, then Baizhu found her later during some sort of exploration I think

Sumeru quest is definitely my favorite. It was actually well spaced in time and made sure every character we met played their part. I'm glad they improved their story telling since Inazuma. I like how you mentioned that watching someone lose their purpose in life is hard because i saw many people accusing scaramouche stans for feeling bad that no one catched him in that moment and I think this sentence explains this feeling really well. When it comes to dottore and his negotiations i think the best way to explain is, is through archons are helping tsartista from the shadows. We have to remember nahida was closed off for 500 years and there was no way of actually communicating with her. So dottore had to come up with something that wouldn't hurt her and didn't put him in risk of her refusal since he didn't have that much time to explain. Whats weird tho is that maybe he could communicate with her while he was sealing her inside the akasha but I'm not sure, it's complicated. Anyway if we are descender number 4 then who is number 2 and 3? When it comes to our twin my brain is just empty. I wish we will get more lore soon.

I think the reason why the Harbingers are less violent towards the archons is because the Tsaritsa knows that the archons are more or less victims of Celestia. So it's like a "unless absolutely necessary" type thing. In Venti's case I assume it's because he's too free spirited to care about the whole thing that unless they forcibly take it from him he wouldn't have given it because he didn't care or wouldn't have at least listened to their reasoning.

I agree, I think the Archons sort of understand what the Tsaritsa is up to. They all presumably witnessed the same event that so profoundly changed her. It’s notable that Ei also chose to cut ties with Celestia afterwards, and I strongly doubt Zhongli would have made a contract with her to give up his gnosis if he thought her goals would threaten Liyue. Even Venti didn’t really seem all that worried about having his gnosis forcibly stolen. He seemed more sad about it than upset. Overall, I get the feeling that the Tsaritsa’s plans may not be particularly pleasant, but are at least justifiable in the eyes of The Seven.

I still believe that Venti could have easily defeated Signora if he really wanted to. He probably knew (something of) her plan and played along with it. After all, he seems to know much more about Celestia and the Cataclysm than he is willing to share. The only archon I can see to refuse to coorpate with the Fatui is the Hydro archon.

Negotiating vs attacking archons: It could be that if the archon dies, even if separated from the gnosis, Celestia will automatically begin the selection of the replacement archon which will also have them retake possession of the gnosis. Data Pollution, leads me to think Teyvat is most similar to Elysian Realm from HI3. Teyvat could also be a matrix, and What makes a vision holder a vision holder is that there is an actual/dedicated human brain behind them vs computer simulation.

If Asmoday couldn't contain two sibling to same degree, she much more likely failed to contain all corruption in Khaenraia.. and there's nothing big enough for Morax to hurl down on the place to one shot it. So the decision was made.. one archon had to die, to shut the thing down.. Makoto had a plan B for Inazuma, and she had Ei to oversee it. Only Ei view of eternity was obstacle, so Istaroth helped her plant a seed in beginning of time to give Ei .. more time.

@@wolfkitty42 Brushing myself back up on this, actually both the white and black have their king and queen places swapped. The Fatui are black (Kasparov) and Celestia is white (Deep Blue). In the actual game, white goes on to win. However, if you switch the places of the kings and queens (which is the case on the board, that moves takes it from being a win for white to a win for black. The pawn (Signora) was sacrificed but after this, the position is now winning for the Fatui (black). This doesn't change the overall result of the match. In the actual match, it was 4-2 is Kasparov's favor. Factoring in this change, it'd be 5-1. Though this is somewhat unrelated conjecture, Kasparov and Deep Blue have a rematch the following year and Deep Blue narrowly wins that rematch. So perhaps the Fatui will win up to the point of gathering the gnoses and all of their prep work but when they actually take on Celestia proper, they'll come up short.

we definitely have more big lore bombs for sumeru coming, we haven't had a dainsleif quest yet and the numberless act which featured in travail "Truth amongst the pages of purana" hasn't been revealed yet despite sumeru having more archon quests than any chapter before it (if you don't count the traveler acts), Mondstadt had 3 acts and its featured act was the first, Liyue had 5 acts and its featured act was the second, Inazuma had 4 acts and its featured act was the third one (though depending on how you count it may be the 4th since inazuma had a prologue) Sumeru meanwhile has had 5, yes 5 entire acts with no traveler acts, the truth amongst the pages of purana has not been revealed yet so either sumeru is really really long, or 3.3 is going to be the end of the main quest and from then on we will get maybe 1 or 2 traveler quests.

in the hidden strife event, albedo speculates that some members of the abyss order may have the ability to activate the ley lines, and by doing that they can control when ley line information is recorded and released. we already know that the abyss twin is involved with the abyss order, and they used purple energy instead of their original gold colour. i haven't thought about it very hard but maaaybe the abyss order (or khaenri'ahns before they were turned) had something to do with the twin being recorded in irminsul and part of teyvat

A lot of that hate is proof that he did his job as a villain really well. Although his backstory was used as a clichéd failed attempt at making an excuse for all his crimes and it also doesn’t help that his backstory has been done to death in media to the point it comes off as a very bland and generic backstory. But alas they chose to keep him alive instead of killing him off which imo would’ve been a better option since justice would be served and it would benefit him as well since he wouldn’t have to suffer any longer or else the latter option would be for him to suffer the consequences of his actions for eternity or worse; his recapture from the fatui.

When u take a look at knocked out paimon and the traveler there is actually a subtle difference between the two. The traveler still moves. He/she still has an animation for breathing whereas paimon ist just completely frozen. Could be an accident but it could also be hoyoverses amazing eye for detail. This leaves room for a couple of theories about paimon. She may not need to breathe. Maybe she is a god who posseses the body of what we think is paimon. And maybe dotorre accidentally seperated that link between body an actual god, thus leaving her body completely frozen. Maybe she is the god of time and froze herself in time to prevent dmg to her body (yeah... this one is a bit farfetched) Just a couple of though about that not moving at all detail.

About 19:08 , my theory is that it's pretty much confirmed that Venti deliberately gave away his Gnosis, because Nahida told that the only top 3 Harbingers can match the power of a God, which Signora isn't. Also she confirmed the Venti's saying about "more fate from people=more power", and Venti is the only Archont which has a cathedral or churchy thingy and over all has a lot of fate from people, which means he's not weak right now after all, and easily could've taken down Signora if he wanted. I think Dottore, despite his power or strength, is not someone who'd prefer to fight to get what he wants If he can get it through nefarious ways or by being straightforward he'd resort to that over combat We've seen him in the Manga resorting to negotiations with Diluc and Kaeya through a separate ally and now with Nahida as well Even if he had something to lose in the end he seems to approach everything like it's an experiment "let's try it this way, it's worth a shot, if it failed I'll just use a different method to achieve the result I want" kind of thinking Resorting to combat would probably result in more harm than good since he probably sees those around him as assets or resources so damaging them would be bad for him too Though that's just what I understood of his character based on everything we know about him so far He did fight diluc at some point but we know that younger segment of his is probably more reckless and has a shorter fuse or something since they do think and act differently from the Omega version seeing that even he can't get along with all of them and get them to work together

I think the Dottore and Nahida interaction is like when two wild animals are in conflict over something. Okay, so I have a silly theory, since memories are really important, and I think you mentioned in one of your theories about dain being the proof that khaenri’ah didn’t fall. What if Teyvat was the twin’s homeland before it’s reconstruction and the sibling remember it during their time in khaenri’ah (while were asleep?) and that was trigger for irminsul to learn that the sibling belong in teyvat. But the traveler does not remember it. So there is no record of irminsul about them. I don’t really know how to explain it but I hope it’s clear enough.

I think the whole thing of withering zone not going away instantly actually makes sense with the whole pollution and corruption analogy. So basically, I see it as this: if you could somehow uncorrupt a file, it would probably be fast; but pollution is a lot harder to clean up since you actively have to remove stuff rather than just rearranging stuff. Hope this makes sense and clears up a bit of confusion for some people!

To think the way they made the story into the game is fruit is somewhat downright amazing. The persons who made such an amazing story and the team that made the game. I'm speechless cause mere words might not be able to express how extraordinary they've been able to deliver its tale of Genshin. Looking forward to the Fontaine chapter and its take on Justice. Also, love the content it's so very informative and lively. Your videos have their unique charm compared to some.
