i had the same experience, switched to this mid league ( i had just enough currency to buy the imporant uniques) , and it was so fun and fast, you can spam whirling blades for insane travel speed and the clear is very satisfying

Comments after some leveling practice: - I've never died so much in the campaign before :D - But it's mostly because of the insane speed causing you to over-rush. Get resists sorted! Don't do Dominus at 22! etc. - Doing Brutus with FB is just unnecessary masochism. Spectral throw (with bleed+poison or whatever) was super smooth on both Brutus and Merveil, then just swap to FB with the strike mastery (also no need to do the ancestral call swaps all the time). You might even find a nice claw by then - Clarity is super helpful, leech is cool and all, but without clarity you're constantly out of mana when you whirl through empty spaces

Agree with first two bullet points. First skill found by beach and just the efficacy worked for me along with stormblast mines for burst dmg. Once I got to a2 ---> and found a decent claw and sockets I've been smooth sailing. Wit the currency I've banked will make a very small investment soon and should cruise all the way to grey/yellow maps. Great build brother.@@ZishPOE

For those looking at this for 3.23 (posted this before any patch notes were released, so it may not be relevant). For 3.22, Heatshiver was 80c on day 1, 45c on day , 27c on day 3, then it stayed between 40 - 50c for the rest of the league. Yoke was 120c on day 1, 50c on day 2, then fell to 10c on day 3 and stayed there. @Zish, assuming neutral patch notes, after playing this in 3.22, would you recommend for 3.23?

Then focused on dps and was completely fine upto act 9. Heatshiver, yoke, southbound will carry you. The only thing you really want to craft is a claw and it’s it’s annoying, you can multimod or just buy one. Maybe even just use white wind.

Ok, so I tested this, and well, first acts are best done by making use of a marauder mule - get totems, leap slam, and another quicksilver flask from there, then switch to shadow and begin leveling with a two-handed axe and frost blades as skill of choice. Around the middle of act 3 (that's when you start getting a lot of claw perks) switch to a claw. That's the smoothest option I found.

i watched ur other video and this video, sry but english is not my main language so i will make some mistakes. Is one step ahead so good to take it always? That 108% at least as base value, seems that we can´t go under that, but if we try to augment action speed we still part from 100 so an increment of 8% of action speed from whatever source turns to 0. Is that cause we have no source of action speed despite that, and even with that, is worth to have 8% action speed and the immunity in front of another acendancy points? Thx for the guide

I like One Step Ahead for freeze/chill immunity, so yes it's very good in my opinion. You don't need action speed anywhere else, like boots.

Alright in fear of being told to go elsewhere.. :D Do you think someone who has played 1 season for idk maybe 100 hours on builds like impending doom and Venom Gyre, should do well on league start with this? I personally love having a offencive defence layer (freezing screens) and an incredible amount of damage.. ive never done ubers and i want to take this league as a solo league (with some trading for core items ofc cause im still a goober and dont know crafting well) .. So.. opinion? is this noob friendly? and out of interest what kind of set up in regards to atlas would this build suit? (sorry if this is asking too much or anything)

Sure, give it a shot - it's not a very complicated build to play or gear really - just not the fastest leveler, is all. Atlas strat can be anything you want, build is good at everything. GL!

Build looks fun af once you get it going, kinda spoiled by practicing cf champ with the juicy damage passives in act 1. With spectral throw back on the menu, I found that just a smol duelist mule for chance to bleed, a rustic sash, and then grabbing spectral throw made act 1 a lot more manageable while you path through all the dex nodes (although I could definitely get behind continuing the mule for all the other benefits). Just ran with 1 handers and ST-poison-bleed until grabbing +1 and killing merveil.

Not quite sure exactly what the best way for ailments is going to be - boots + a jewel + shield for avoid ailments possibly, but I'd say it's a low-ish priority. Any crit with fire damage will ignite, and you get fire damage from Heatshiver so you will be igniting. Mageblood isn't needed imo, it's way too expensive and the build doesn't get enough benefit from it to justify its cost. GL!

Thoughts on Ruetoos/Quantriks defensive version? would we need to spec into that once we get a ton of currency ? So in short, its pointless taking the leech nodes they picked as we will never regen our ES if Blood rage is running?

That version is much tankier, it's not just about the ES - but you could just stick with Ice Bite instead of switching to Awakened Added Cold for mapping Frenzy charges and not use Blood Rage at all, this would make your ES Overleech feel a lot better. You could spec that way right away mostly I think if you prefer.

I've not played the new league at all, first time really getting into POE. I'm at red maps with a boneshatter jugg in SSF but feeling very bored with the playstyle. This skill looks way more fun. Would you say this could be viable for me to switch into as SSF? Didn't know if any of the uniques are mandatory.

It is kind of unique-reliant, but you CAN get by without them. I played it in SSF this league, but I DID drop those uniques...I'd say give it a try - but if you're inexperienced with crafting AND you don't get those uniques (Heatshiver + Yoke), it might feel worse than Boneshatter....

I do have a question though, since I don't have a heatshiver yet (plan to try to find one in maps) I think I'm meant to be running Wrath over Hatred for the lightning damage to get the Cold resonance for Trinity? There's not a ton of strong leveling unique weapons, just use what you can find. I'd probably get a Goldrim at least and/or a Tear of Purity to make leveling easy early.

I think it's good to get Nightblade when you have around 25-30% crit, around that same time also switching to Assassin's Mark. Probably around Act 7-8 or so, once you have the Crit nodes.

if you have access to hollow palm, its the best way to level by far imo. If not, just use whatever you can get, theres nothing special.

Hi again Zish, a couple more questions Is it worth using Anomalous Blood Rage for Ubers? Is Anomalous Frost Blades good? Is the steelskin being level 13 just because of mana cost? And lastly, do you think it's worth trying to get curse immunity on the build with a 60% flask suffix and some other stuff?

You already have frenzy charge generation from the Mark mastery, so regular Blood Rage. Extra proj for Frost Blades is also useless, you don't need them for clear and they do nothing for bosses. Steelskin at 13 is just a comfy spot where it goes off at around ~half HP. You can adjust it to whatever level you prefer, really. Curse immunity - nah, probably not, flask suffixes are too important - maybe as a 4th flask if you don't have Taste of Hate.

I have a good amount invested in this build but can’t figure out how to get my attack speed so high with high crit. My crit chance is almost 50 percent and I still need a perfect rolled claw and shield. I have 100 acc and 100 suppression, like 30k evasion. What should I get my crit chance up to? I’m only level 87 so I’m going to start on the cluster jewel points next. That should be a huge damage increase as I level up. I have watchers eye, awake gems, the gem that lets me apply passives in radius around point blank. I’m working on getting the second jewel for opportunistic. Maybe I just need to be patient and once I hit like level 96+ the build will really come together I dunno. I also I only 15 percent chance to freeze and dunno if it should be higher

Just google Better Trading POE, mine's nothing special. Besides Claw, the additional strike on gloves is probably the most important thing to craft/get - and Fortify on chest.

Uhh, if you use Whirling Blades it should only be to move around...you can really level with whatever you want. If you want to level with Frost Blades, you can.

The Ghost Dance Keystone is replaced by a Lethal Pride Keystone - Heartstopper isn't mandatory at all though, you could take Escape Artist instead if you prefer - using Blood Rage will drain that ES, though.

Regarding the tanky version: I was playing around in PoB with this. I used your 30-50div budget gear as a base, with the level 95 no cluster tree. Just like this tanky version I used Escape Artist/Soul Drinker, and Ghost Dance. It's true that the degen is higher than the ES leech, which is why I opted for Ghost Reaver and that ES leech cap wheel right next to it as well. The gear was changed as well: instead of pure evasion on the shield, boots and gloves I went for hybrid evasion/energy shield bases. The affixes stayed the same, I just copied them over. I removed some damage passives on the tree to balance out the points again and put the timeless jewel at the bottom of the tree (and manually added/removed the timeless jewel bonuses). The result is: 963 energy shield, ES leech cap of 327 (without any instant leech, 442 with) with a degen of only 149. It's less ES than the tanky version, but this also reduces the degen because it's based on max life/ES. We don't leech life anymore, but our claw already has flat life gain on hit, so we still regain life when attacking. This is a 620 life gain rate. There's also that Claw mastery which gives life on hit in case it's not enough. The DPS went down from 63m to 51m, and I used one more passive point (so level 96 instead of 95). Compared to the tanky version, this is less tanky but does more damage. Compared to the regular 30-50div version, this does about 19% less damage but seems much tankier. And there's Ghost Dance which always feels nice. Having less leech overall, and only having life gain on hit (which spreads out the regen between life/es) might be an issue though. Do you have any experience with such a version? I could clean up the PoB I used and send it later. I will probably still use your regular version, but playing around with PoB is always so much fun...

Yea I have experimented a lot with Ghost Reaver - usually without much success...Frost Blades is highly flexible though, can be played many ways. I think the build is plenty survivable as it is without much modifications.

Thank you for the guide Zish : ) I'm an old fan of Frostblades, and my builds are like, 10 or 15 leagues old, so I'm a bit out of date on the gear and passives. That said, on the min-maxed PoB I'm seeing with the 30-50Div or Min-Maxed version a Lifetap effect on Frostblades... We've look at the source of that effect everywhere with a friend, and we cannot figure it out. Where does that come from? or is it a PoB bug maybe? EDIT: For info, the defensive build does not meet the strength requirements by default.

Lifetap is for Assassin's Mark, it's not for Frost Blades. You don't have enough mana to trigger AM without the lifetap. The defensive build has plenty of open Suffixes, so you'll need to get some Strength somewhere on it.

this build was pretty fun last league for me, managed to get a mageblood for the first time and hit level 98 which is a bit higher than normal for me. the main thing I didn't like was having to get a good crucible tree before crafting a claw, but that's not a thing this league. unfortunately I am going spark for group play this league but this was considered again for sure.

What type of content would you farm with this once you got heatshiver/yoke? Legion seems to be very much doable with this build, but I've never played Frost Blades so I don't really know the type of content it shines in. Assuming everything with lots of density.

Yeah spot on. It hits really hard once everything comes online, and freezing everything is a nice defense layer in itself. Legion and harvest were super smooth for me at least.

Honestly FB is good at farming everything - you can pick whatever you want and it can do it with little problem. Careful with Expedition immunity nodes, obviously.

You'll get Pierce from Gloves - you can either Craft it on once you Unveil the craft (from Betrayal unveils), OR, the better way, is to get it on an Eater of Worlds implicit by using Eldritch Ichors.

Why tanky version has 96% enemy miss chance and dps version has 55% chance? It seems the only difference is evade chance. I don't get it. Some plz explain to me. EDIT : I got it, tanky version has 'Enemy Damage Type' as melee. If you change it to average, EHP goes 130k

So testing this build before 3.23. Currently nearing the end of act 4 and bosses feel like shit. Almost res capped and im getting one or two shot with any kind of hit. Is there any way to make this build feel better during campaign? Damage is ass for bosses and it cant even take a single hit. I have as updated gear as is realistic for a league start but I don't want to league start and die 5 times to every boss encounter.

The first half of the campaign is definitely the hardest part - make sure you keep up with Life flask upgrades, try to get some life on gear, take the life wheel on the tree near the Leech wheel if you prefer, and get Trinity + Wrath online and your damage should be feeling fine by A4. I'll do some practice runs coming up after the announcement, tune in for those if you want to see more, and practice yourself will definitely help a lot, too. GL!

@@ZishPOE In act 6 is roughly when it starts to feel somewhat enjoyable in my opinion. single target is still pretty bad, but zooming around blowing things up is fun. I'd be interested to see an Energy Blade version of this build :o

that number is a bit unrealistic, they have everything checked in the config that can possibly be checked. The build is based highly on 95% chance to evade, with 100% spell suppression. Its going to feel good with ghost shrouds, but it will be on of those builds like all evade builds, feels good til you get hit by a bonk. dont get me wrong it will feel good most o the time...well 95% of the time, but you can still get one shot from time to time by a big phys hit with his max phys hit being 16k and if you dont have your taste of hate up, only a small percentage of that hit will be mitgated to ele damage

That's not an abnormal number on evasion builds. It's basically saying "you can - on average - get attacked for that amount of damage before you will die". The max hit is the number you should be looking at and if you're doing this on HC, I'd probably replace some things for some more phys mitigation. Endurance charges, PDR on shield, that type of stuff

Whats the best way to ensure enemies are on brittle ground? whirling blades through the enemy every x seconds? frost blink? walking?

You must WB or walk - Frostblink does not place down Brittle.

have you PoBed trauma frostblade? i wonder if its not stronger as slayer now with a siege axe and getting 400-500 flat phys from trauma , no elusive crit multi from nightblade but you get close combat massive damage multi and the crit multi from slayer's 8% base crit node

It's not really more DPS, Shields have a lot of damage too - plus they are very strong defensively and for capping suppression/resists.

@@yavordankov1207 Additional curse is needed so youd need to anoint Whispers of Doom instead of Panopticon, but I think it's actually not worth it, POB says its a DPS loss. Double curse isn't that great when we already have lots of penetration + the invert res Ele mastery.

I really enjoyed the content you are giving for the Community! I have got the max crit chance version with 3 skill 8 cluster, but without brittle. I have in my stash the 35incr.eff 12 cluster (the same as yours), but when using it, the crit isn't capped and you have to put the brittle boots. Can you please tell me your opinion on the swapping from the crit capped version with 3 skills 8 cluster to the mega dmg version from the 12 cluster, but having to run over the mobs to brittle them, and kill the map boss? How do you feel it in mapping? The huge amount of plus dmg but no crit capped and to brittle the map boss for max crit is it worth (for mapping or bossing)?

@@yavordankov1207 you don't need to be crit capped for mapping so that's irrelevant, but for bossing you do. I preferred brittle because I didn't mind how it works, you can pre-place it before most bosses, and it gives you lots of flexibility to give up crit elsewhere. But if you don't like the way brittle works, it's totally optional.

This isn't an uber-focused build - if you want to do Ubers I suggest you have at least ~100M DPS (or you can get freeze duration, too).
