i use lvl 1 miners for farming (cost about 7-9 gold p/h) and 1 actual farmer. This way i cheaply keep my farmers busy day and night. I have a rank 2,3 and 4 farmer but i mostly use the lvl2, the farmer is there only to farm crops that i have in short supply. (PS i only have a rank 4 town, because im not good at this game ;p)

I am pretty sure the miners run out of ore once they hit about rank 4 and then you are stuck running around hoping to find something for them to actually mine. This is crappy. Why have a mine in kingsmarch if you mine the damn thing out after a day?

It's just a sign they made a good mechanic. I've spent less time concerned about gear upgrades and Atlas progression and more about just getting gold to upgrade my town.

If you don't put your gold in the town bank you can regulate how much your draining lel

There is no "correct" why to do this obviously, but everyone i have talked to, and my own experience is the exact opposite, dont out gold in the treasury intil you have to, keep them bankrupt, mist if the places are a waste of gold until rank 11, mainly shipment, but also mining and farming, never upgrade mapping, its worthless. Smelting goesnt have to be 11, but mining, farming and shipping 100% isnt worth it until rank 11. The first fey days i was fighting with the treasury and always running out just wasting gold. In 1 day of not putting gold in treasury i took two of my places from rank 4 to 11, one of then to 10, and one to 9, and the town is still 7. If i kept putting gold in the treasury i wouldnt have a single place rank 11

When I was proud of myself for farming up enough gold for 2 days of worker wages just to be down to 20 minutes after rerolls it hit me not to touch that anymore.

Yeah I’m at the point where I’ll have to wait until I get some time on the weekend to grind it out if I wanna do town upgrades. At the moment after work hours just go to piling up gold and maybe the occasional shipment
