3-4-5, 30-40-50, 300-400-500, etc. can, in theory, give us 90 degrees. But, in practice, it won't. One of the fundamental principles of Surveying is: WHOLE TO PART. NOT PART TO WHOLE. So the triangle we set out is to be bigger than the lenghts of the two walls. The smaller the triangle, the more the error. You explained how to check perpendicularity. You haven't explained how to set out a right angle. Mark a line of, say, the length of 40 metres. Hold zero of one tape at one end of the line. Hold zero of another tape at the other end of the line. 30 metre reading on one tape and 50 metre reading on the other tape must be brought together. The point of coincidence makes the right angle.
