@@BrianGreenwood1352 To be fair, both of those things do happen quite commonly over there. Earthquakes rarely happen in the Midwest, although if a large quake from the NMSZ ever occurs it'll be quite devastating.

We just had a tornado in the middle of Des Moines, but we were not suppoed to get tornados on Des Moines because of two rivers this is some wild weather

It's nothing but a myth that geographical features will block a tornado! There have been strong tornadoes that have easily gone up and over 12,000ft mountains in places like the Tetons in Wyoming. So two rivers certainly won't stop a tornado!

Oh please. It says Chicago area. If you are talking to a wide televised area and are not familiar with the state, Chicago is always a general focus point. Maybe they dont explain those things on MSNBC or CNN.

Anyone Remember the Earthquake that happened near Troy Grove, Illinois on June 28th, 2004? That was a magnitude 4.2 it was around 1:14 a.m.. I was living in Beloit, Wisconsin at the time. I was on the second floor of my home when it happened. I was in Bed and awake when it happened. I have a complete description of that quake from start to finish if anyone is interested. Also, I was operating a seismometer out of my home at the time. I recorded this earthquake on my equipment. I also recorded the news casts and the radio cast of this earthquake also.

@@jimoconnor6382 You must be thinking of the earthquake near LaGrange, Illinois September 1985 which was a 3.5 Magnitude. That one was very close to Chicago. Or the one that took place in June 1987 near Lawrenceville, Illinois in Southern Illinois which was a 5.0 magnitude Earthquake. It was just East of Olney, Illinois, that one was felt in about 20 to 23 states.

I was in Hinkley Illinois and I felt it. I was up and awake. At first I thought it was a train. But the vibrations kept getting bigger and I was like um, that is no train. I almost got up to run outside but it was over fast.
