Looking at the forward edges of the rack, the upward curve of the terminus prevents installing a large flat bottom item such as a large roof top tent (Condor XL) or similar flat bottom equipment. I've not seen one in person so my optics may be wrong. Can you comment on this statement? Thanks.

You are very much correct - this is the reason I’ve actually recently replaced this rack with a no-rise Gobi Stealth rack.

Can anyone tell me if the front edge of the fairing actually rests on the paint? I'm concerned that the rubber edge will scratch/wear the paint as dust gets caught under it if it rests on the paint. Thanks

I would highly recommend you add a strip of PPF to the area where the fairing rests on the roof. I did not do this on my previous explorer and regretted it when i took the rack off when I sold the explorer. Did not make the mistake on my TRD OD! I've seen some folks wrap the entire roof before installing the rack - this will obviously get expensive but will definitely ensure your roof is protected - and will be much easier to clean.

bought a 19' pro last week with a full prinsu mounted on it.......I do not see an opening like I see on yours (on the sides) to insert anything and slide it across the rail........weird

It makes no sense the OEM rack is not full length. If I ever replaced mine I would go full length with a 3rd party rack for sure.

Do you remember the length of your crossbars by chance? I ordered one and the cross bars ended up being too short and measuring 44 inches.

No impact on buffeting, and I see no reason why you couldn’t attach an awning.

The proper torque to use on the torque wrench is twenty two foot pounds.

I have the full rack. Installed it and then had a 3 hour drive. zero noise at 89 mph and 50 mph wind gusts. You dont even know its there

I haven't tried, but as far as I know, yes. The rack is rated for 600#, and even if the front of the tent hung over the front edge of the rack (toward the windshield), there's no reason it shouldn't work.

Would a 3rd gen Tacoma double cab roof rack line up with a 5th gen 4runner as a 3/4 rack?

Logan Cook what do you mean by line up? If you mean would the same unit fit, I’m sure it wouldn’t, but I believe they make one for that setup.

Andrew Milnes you can buy the wind fairing that has a cutout for a light bar, but I don’t think I would do it, you’d have a ton of light hitting the roof and not the ground. I haven’t actually tested that myself, but if you want to put lights up there I’d definitely consider doing the full rack.

Perry Camaliga You still have full use of the sun roof. The sunroof slides open inside of the roof, not on top of it.

Thanks brother. Didn't know that. I thought its the same as other sunroof that goes on top of the roof. I had my 4runner for 2 years and didn't know about it.
