This phenomenon is very common in Zimbabwe, especially in rural areas. Moreso in murder cases.

I heard a real story about someone that had an accident in a freeway and some people at night see the accident and keep calling to report it but the police didn’t find any car or accident until later. Good short movie well done👍🏻
