Yes we have sirens. If you listen to the video really well you can hear them going off. Yes there was a twin twister that turned into one just before it went over HWY 14 and took out the Pin Oak Marsh building. That was full of wildlife mounts and animals for the DNR to teach People for miles around about wildlife. Behind where he was at it took out our local vets barn hurting a horse. Continuing to go through Red Haw State Park Camp grounds,there is nothing left then also taking a house before It crossed Hwy34 taking another house and hitting the Cabins straight on killing one person and continued to the Soda Pop Saloon next door knocking out the barn. There were trees everywhere of course. I am sure there is OH so much more damage that I didn't write down. This is what I could see or photo I saw. Chariton is a very strong community. They will work hard to get things back together.

That's interesting to see this tornado. I was driving a semi in California the day of the storm, but at that time I looked at the local radar in a truck stop and once I looked at that cell over chariton I called friends who were in sigourney to take cover. No matter what the news said I could tell by the radar it was a tornadic cell. And then of course the reports started to come in of the other storms. But luckily those cells broke up for the most part after this video.

Great footage....they rate tornadoes by wind speed like hurricanes?
@TornadoCrewStormChasers
@TornadoCrewStormChasers 2 жыл бұрын
Yes they look at the type of damage and thru structural engineering mathematics figure it would take x amount of windspeed to create the particular type damage. Thus more windspeed a higher rating.

The difference between a storm chaser and a non-chaser is that the chaser sees a tornado gets excited and stops to get a better look and pulls out his camera only to realize that they he is in the direct path of the tornado so they move to another location to get a better look/angle only to realize that the tornado is building and might still come at them so they move another 50-100 feet away. Whereas the regular person sees a tornado or gets a warning and runs to the nearest storm shelter or safe place to wait it out.

So me and my sister and my mom where on our way to our aunts house who lived in chariton we stoped at a gas station be for we left and the sirens went off but we could still see the sun so we thought we’re fine we started driving and about ten minutes in we start to get worried you look one way and see heaven look the other and it’s like black clouds about 20 minutes in the winds picking up.then why we were about ten minutes from chariton it started pouring and the winds were going and we were honestly terrified….but then we decided that we NEEDED ago pray…..we asked Jesus for his protection and for us to get to our aunts house safely…as soon is we said amen (it was so magical) a double rainbow shone through the sky it was so vibrant then we knew we where protected….now we are in chariton and there is pea sized hail coming down the winds where so bad.we got there and apparently there was a super bad tornado that killed a man in his trailer and a family with two kids under two 😢 I thank you Jesus for that promise 💗💗💗

As I was driving eastbound on 34 to Chariton I was driving into 2 tornado warned storms in the area. I have computers and weather radar, and I am familiar with navigating a storm. But I wondered if the other people on the road even knew they were driving into a tornado warned storm. Being weather aware is important.

@@TornadoCrewStormChasers ya we knew it was bad like the wind was pushing our car !! Mom thought there was a tornado close so she said let here know if u see anything but I was telling myself no there’s no tornado because I didn’t want to get caught in one but then we were watching the weather and sure enough there was a nado…..deep down inside I want to see a tornado because there just so majestic and eerie all at the same time but then again I don’t feel like dying lol I know that most Iowans know when the storm is bad but ya know….some people know there’s a tornado coming and the are standing in there drive way looking up like the nado just going to avoid me 🙄 but then there’s people that don’t even know what the sirens are for there some people I’ve met who don’t even know what a tornado is and I’m like….you’ll find out eventually 😆
