Yes we have sirens. If you listen to the video really well you can hear them going off. Yes there was a twin twister that turned into one just before it went over HWY 14 and took out the Pin Oak Marsh building. That was full of wildlife mounts and animals for the DNR to teach People for miles around about wildlife. Behind where he was at it took out our local vets barn hurting a horse. Continuing to go through Red Haw State Park Camp grounds,there is nothing left then also taking a house before It crossed Hwy34 taking another house and hitting the Cabins straight on killing one person and continued to the Soda Pop Saloon next door knocking out the barn. There were trees everywhere of course. I am sure there is OH so much more damage that I didn't write down. This is what I could see or photo I saw. Chariton is a very strong community. They will work hard to get things back together.

The difference between a storm chaser and a non-chaser is that the chaser sees a tornado gets excited and stops to get a better look and pulls out his camera only to realize that they he is in the direct path of the tornado so they move to another location to get a better look/angle only to realize that the tornado is building and might still come at them so they move another 50-100 feet away. Whereas the regular person sees a tornado or gets a warning and runs to the nearest storm shelter or safe place to wait it out.

I forgot how flat the plains states are. Nothing to slow them down. Nice job, pray and be careful man.

Yes you can really see when it's completely flat and the inflow has no interference, the tornadoes form easier.

Lots of comments about why he didn’t get the dog. Its a valid point and also possibly trespassing on private property. The dog really wasn’t in danger. He got a nice video. We all watched it and had a good viewing experience. Cheers🍺

The tornado was moving away. The dog was in no danger. The green street sign at the intersection signifies a public street. It was a dead end though. At the end yes private property. You can't take possession or control of property belonging to someone else that is theft. The demeanor of the dog could be an unknown, espically when I put him in a strange vehicle and continue storm chase with him. My truck is full of expensive equipment. The dog was soaking wet and muddy. If the dog was injured from the tornado I would have tried to find help. I see a lot of animals running loose while storm chasing. I can't be driving around with a storm chasing vehicle full of dogs and cats.

Your point is well taken. My apologies if I offended. For the record, I did state the dog was not in danger and the road was possibly private. Enjoyed your work!

@@65gto32 no not offended I thought you were stating the obvious. He was ok. BTW I love pets. I have helped injured animals on chases, or got turtles out of the road. My last animal I helped was an OWL.

It makes me laugh when people say that “a hurricane is more powerful than a tornado”. A tornado has wind speed, far greater than a hurricane and all that power is invested into one small area. A tornado is much more powerful than a hurricane, by far, especially an EF-4 to EF-5. A hurricane has never ripped a homes foundation from the ground and thrown it 100 feet or more lol. It doesn’t embed a persons gold teeth into the side of a tree(Bridge Creek 1999), it doesn’t rip a tree’s bark right off and wrap a truck around it, 5 feet off the ground. The tornado is the most powerful weather phenomenon in the history of the earth. A hurricane is wider spread, but weaker in intensity.
@barbaroacosta53352 жыл бұрын
The hurricane damage occurs mostly from flooding, which can be catastrophic. Wind speeds being the only factor, the tornado wins easily.

it was an ef4 when it hit winterset, i watched it from 1/4 mile away, TG it hit south of town.

This was a different tornado. This one maxed at ef3. This was the Chariton tornado. Yes the Winterset tornado was an ef4. I think the Winterset tornado already had gone thru Winterset while I was filming this one to the south.
