Hi! If I'm making use of secondary data and thus do not control any independent variables directly, is it still an experiment? I will be looking at fundamental analysis and stock market performance.

when using experiment as a research strategy. is this kind of research explanatory or descriptive?

Mostly explanatory, with experimental research and design straddling the quantitative type of data being collected. It also depends, but that's another response.
