Mike has spoken in our community a few times here in south western Ontario. One time after lunch, which he commented about enjoying, he was proving a point. Said “I’ll bet you a piece of pie, I bet you a slice of rhubarb pie!…….” Was a great talk.

Until I started watching farming vids I had NO IDEA how sharp/business minded you need to be to run a farm. These guys (successful farmers) are amazing business people.

Despite all this milk going to waste because nobody wants it, the U.S. dairy industry is still heavily subsidized by the government-and receiving taxpayer bailouts as a result.

Is anyone familiar with the fan he was talking about for silage pile? I have googled removing oxygen in a silage pile with no info. I asked my Midwest nutritionist, and he had never heard of it. The dairyman claimed very low spoilage. I am really interested in this fan!?

Just like several other dairies who sell milk, they ship the milk to the creamery to get processed and they run the milk down the drain & send the farmer the bill because they are short of workers

Avg. cow output is 60lbs per day, so how do you reach 359,000? Justify your answer SantaFe Agroinstituto?
@SantafeAgroinstituto_US2 ай бұрын
Welcome to our channel! Thanks so much for your question. We’re curious to know where you came across the information that the cows produce an average of 60 lbs. With 3,600 Holstein cows in a free-stall system receiving high-quality feed, it’s natural to expect higher production averages.
@andrewsmith25912 ай бұрын
@@SantafeAgroinstituto_US I looked on the internet to see what the average production was for a cow and it said 7 gallons, which converted to about 60 lbs. Your claims amount to an average of approximately 100 lbs. Thats more than 50% higher and I find it hard to believe.
@niklas66082 ай бұрын
@@andrewsmith2591i‘m a technician in the dairy industry meaning i see a lot of different farms every day and everyone has a different average output. some have only 40 lbs and some have up to 100 lbs. it is possible if the conditions are very good meaning good food, clean cowshed, good genes and little to no stress for the cows. you need to invest in your cows to reach an output that high but if you do it correctly it’s possible

"Ultra High Temperature" pasteurization process (compared to standard). Sterilized the milk and container, and properly packaged the result is milk with months of shelf life without refrigeration.
