Thanks Steve, I purchased one and it arrived yesterday. I will mount mine on the drill press using your idea. Thankyou. (I have used a few of your ideas over the years from your videos)

Gday Steve, they look like a good vice, I’ve seen a few other reviews on the Vevor vices and they have all been happy with it, thanks for sharing mate, cheers

I have the 5'' one, no issues.

These are great vices Steve. I got my one from Vevor two years ago. I use it on my Mini Mill, but without the rotating base to give me extra height. I can always add the base if I need to set an angle. I copied some of your bench drill mods, which I have shown in an earlier video. Cheers Nobby

Hi Nobby, Yes, they are excellent vices. What is your Mini Mill like? Did it need any modifications from new?
@nobbysworkshop Жыл бұрын
@@SteveJordan Hi Steve, I bought it used in 2016. Have done some mods to it. Replaced the torsion bar with a gas strut, and made a homemade power feed for the X travel. My first and third KZbin videos show them. Most recently I added a DRO. Have a few videos on this also. Although it's only a lightweight mill, I've done a huge amount of work on it. All the best Steve. Cheers Nobby

Hi Steve. Everything labelled. Great idea, not least for our Executors! I really like the scissor jack arrangement, you're very inventive. Not much chance of a workpiece escaping from that vice and of course a great safety feature to protect our hands. Thanks for showing.
@SteveJordan Жыл бұрын
Hi, Thanks. The safety feature was one of the reasons I got this one. A couple of years ago, I was drilling through an old V block, but stupidly holding it by hand. It snatched when the drill went through and caused some nasty injuries. It could have been a lot worse, though, but I learned never to hold anything by hand again!

That scissor jack under the drill press table looks terrible, but it's a genius idea. I have a very small tabletop drill press in my garage that I use for woodworking and a scissor jack that's going under the table next time I use it. I admire your keen idea.
@SteveJordan Жыл бұрын
Thanks. I have seen other people use the scissor jacks as well. I forgot to mention that if using them, to make sure one uses a spirit level on the table when adjusting it. I have been using it for many years, and it works great. Regards Steve

Thanks for another interesting video Steve. Is there an engraved line on the vise portion to work with the swivel degrees? I couldn't quite see anything in the video or at the website.
@SteveJordan Жыл бұрын
Hi, There is a ground flat where one should be, but mine doesn't have a line, so I shall just put one on. It looks like there should have been one as the flat is unpainted. It is easy to do, though. Regards Steve

Hi Steve quick noob question why have i seen on some vlogs that some folks use a round rod when clamping in the vice ???? almost like a spacer to stop the work piece walking in the jaws while being clamped.?
@SteveJordan Жыл бұрын
Hi John, I really don't know. I've never seen or come across it.
@65cj55 Жыл бұрын
Sometimes clamping with 3 points of contact is better.

Did Vevor furnish this vice to you, free of charge ?

Hi, Sorry for the late reply. No, it costs me a lot of time and effort and money. I spent the best part of a day filming the video, then doing all the editing as well. People have got the wrong idea when they think things are free. Regards Steve

So it was free? I've got one too, there good little vices. $80 is a bargain

Lol. He checked accuracy with a ruler across the flats! That's hilarious. Use a dial indicator with the vise on a surface plate.

I don't need to. It's for my bench drill, not a milling machine. Regards Steve
