The Lagerfeld is legit fantastic. Somehow they pulled off a scent that’s classic smelling but completely modern, not a whiff of being dated. The sandalwood & spicy vanilla combo shines and comes across as quietly confident. And the price makes it an absolute steal. Total blind buy worthy.

Is the performance as mild to moderate as some suggest in reviews with very light projection, if any?

The projection though is fairly strong for the first two hours, people around me could definitely pick up that I was wearing it(even got a nice compliment). Just spray a little more and you should be set - this scent won’t overwhelm anyone, it’s really smooth and quite good.

The new Declaration Haute Fraicheur smells quite nice actually. But sadly not too familiar with the Mr. Sam so I cannot comment. But the Cartier is nice and yes I remember Gendarme. Boy I do! :)

In 2012, they signed a 20 year license to distribute Lagerfeld, and rather than wait for the year 2032, they decided to terminate the agreement in 2024, thereby taking a $5.7 million loss. I'm wondering if the SRP was low to begin with, and they sort of economized on the amount of fragrance oils in the formula, guaranteeing so-so performance. It doesn't make sense for something to be at the discounters immediately like this one and the Drakkar flanker,, while other major house releases from 2021 still aren't being discounted.
