Totally agree. There should be a clause in IPL form itself 50% deduction of base price if unsold in 1st round. Players can agree or disagree.

I think the best solution for past IPL stars is to be part of a franchise...even if he does not get to play is fine...but being part of a team atmosphere.....a segment of the IPL auction can be set to just IPL players who are not picked for base prices to be simply drafted in to different teams.....he can be a representative for each team, he can appear for coin tosses and interviews rather than players...like he is a thorough member of the team...he is kind of a mentor/player....he/she can be doing training, helping younger players or be part of the team selection committee...idk if this works but i think it may be nice

Nah the players must set their initial base price taking into consideration the fact that the currency can run out.

With the amount of talent available maybe 3 overseas instead of four is an option. Although teams miss out on a quality overseas option . Or bring in a trade window or some sort later with a reduced price

I had a real concern about Indian domestic players. They could not show their talents to franchise before the auction. Indian domestic major T20 league was started just before IPL auction. IPL auction should take place after the final match of the SMAT. What do you say?

Hi Robbie. Good thought. A player can always choose to nominate the least base price. If they have performed decently then there is always the upside of competitive bidding. I feel players need to aware and smart of setting their base prices especially with relevance to their recent performances. Take padikkals case, he would have gone unsold at 2 Cr if it werent for RCB needing a left handed batsman higher up the order. So there was a clear need.

I think the consent call might be a logistically tricky no? Maybe have that as part of the registration process. If you don't get picked in the first round do you want to go down on the base price.

There could be a re eauction maybe that add a little 2 months later to auction to the wallet of each team and say if you want to re think on new guys u could rebid on eauction on the 2nd or 3rd base price ..... like eg. RR missed on Indian spinners and wallet over but could sit o eauction and bid for a someone like PC or Any other ... it will add more excitement to the system

Why cant RCB buy pyush chawla for the base price 50lakh. Look at his stats! Its really good in T20's. This can strengthen our weak link (spin)
