Refectlors and scrims has been my goto for my beauty work both indoor and outdoors since the early 80s. You just don't mess with what works. Keep sharing the knowledge Lindsay

6.2.22 What a fantastic video, Lindsay. Your style of teaching is so informative and easy to follow, I always get so inspired by you. The scrim definitely created stunning soft light. I am going to grab my macro lens for my next portrait session and buy a triflector. For this shoot in the video, did you black out all of the ambient light in the room in your camera settings? And, did you do a custom white balance for your flash? The model's skin tone and lighting is beautiful.

Scrim means light spilling everywhere. Very hard to have control with it, better use it with beauties like that girl. Nice thing it keeps the look a bit more natural without the typical defined catchlight of a nearer softbox. Would you use that triflector also in outdoors or not?
@lindsayadlerphoto3 жыл бұрын
I have used a Triflector outdoors, for sure. More often with window light than actually going outside though.

Lindsay, love your makeup. Do you apply it yourself or have a pro do it for you?

Usually I do the base and then have the makeup artist on set improve it. :D lol

1:47 "Don't go for something like a wider macro lens..." True for portraits. But when you are photographing nature, it can be interesting to show the subject in its surrounding. It can make the picture much more profound.

3 Beauty Photography Tools I Can't Live Without | Inside Fashion & Beauty Photography with Lindsay - so not sure you're in the right place for that comment - but should mention that some of the best macro lenses are also the best portrait lenses - Fuji GF120mm for instance

Shes not talking about environmental portraits. I only do these and I'm never using anything over 60mm

Lindsay, I love your work, your edu videos, and I follow you on IG and FB. I've learned soooooooo much from you. Can you do a video on the humble posing table? I see it in some of your videos. I'm getting ready to buy the FlashPoint and stool kit, and I'd like to get maximum use of it. Thank you!

Does anyone know of a macro lens for iPhone that actually has a long enough focal distance to shoot portraits?

Yes you’re so smart. You just sold that lens
