These are not logos, just random thumbmail images with a "company names" under them.

Technically it is. Anything that is a tool that is attempting to act like a human or do the job of a human could be considered AI. I could make a chat bot that only responds with "NO" and has no neural network, no machine learning at all, and this is still considered under AI. Another one that is super basic that is a better comparison to what is being used here is 'Rule Based AI'. Take for example your thermostat. You can set this to cool the air if the temperature goes above 70 degrees. Now this tech has been around for many many many years but this too is considered rule based AI. Now if we were to apply the principals of machine learning here, the machine would take in input and actually adjust by itself with data. An example would be that it stores data based on who is in the room and can adjust to a temperature that is most comfortable for both people. (This is just something I randomly made up for an example). AI is really just a blanket term and people typically use it to actually mean machine learning. Because that is what they are actually looking for. These logos are not generated by machine learning. There are far more better terms to use than AI to describe what tools are actually being used but we tend to simplify and it catches on.

Some i have seen are actually damn near perfect. Fine-tuning your search makes a world of difference. Looka by far is the best i have seen.

it takes generic garbage you have no rights too because it was sold for a 5 cents to a dozen people and then pretains to make you a "logo" out of it.

The problem with the keyword AI is you can technically apply it to any tool that is supposed to act like a human or do a human job. So yes technically this is "AI". The problem is most people really don't know that they really mean machine learning. They want a vector imagine that is uniquely designed on the spot, not just a logo from a database prebuilt with customizations. This tech has been around sense the internet has been around. These companies have also been around before AI became big. They simply just started using AI for keywords to grab peoples attention as AI is a hot topic.
