I disagree with your take on olive skin-toned people. Not all olive skin tones are warm-toned. This information is outdated. I have yellow skin, so I am cool olive, and blue-reds look great on me. However, green pulls out the green in my skin, making me look even greener.

this is pure science, not opinion that I am sharing. Thinking in warm versus cool is wrong from the get-go. The human skin color spectrum is within the warm colors from yellow to red - all warm colors. This doesn´t mean that you can only wear warm colors as an olive skin. This is also a flawed idea planted by the seasonal color analysis that is not scientific! You will be able to wear warm and cool colors, as all the other color types - but very specific ones based on your unique color type and features.

I think you are both right in part. There is the scientific explanation but then our perception is still something to be considered
@ellaraystyle

@labb592 perception is always altered and influenced by habituation, culture, religion, media, the health status of your eyes/body, and more. My observation is that many people perceive dissonance as desirable because of media influence in the last decades (especially in the west). You living in dissonance creates illness that certain people highly benefit from.

there is plenty misconceptions around olive skin. Yellow glow of the skin doesn´t necessarily mean you are olive but it means that you have yellow pheomelanin dominance which oftentimes lies in the Yellow Root Skin Color Family - which is olive skin. Be aware of the variety between different olive skin tones. Not all olive skin tones look the same!

You are speaking of cool red or potentially the pink spectrum. In the video, I only mean the true red spectrum. Blue is also a fairly wide spectrum, and whether any blue is aligned with you depends on your specific color type. For example, your eye color will play a big role. What's your eye color?

My experience shows that many olive skin types have not explored the entire orange/warm spectrum and thus believe they cannot wear warm colors. Even though this spectrum is one of their best! I can guarantee, that red and blue are dissonant with your color type - unless you are not olive/yellow Root Skin Color.

This. The video makes no sense. Especially blue fits in so many variations with olive skin, same with darker reds and burgundy.
@ellaraystyle
@ellaraystyle 3 ай бұрын
are we talking about the same definition of olive skin? There will be a huge difference between someone who has brown eyes or hazel eyes when it comes to the question of whether or not they can wear blue and red. Also, the specific sub-Root Skin Color will heavily influence whether you can wear red and blue or not. Most olive skin types (scientific definition) cannot wear those colors well. Be aware of the wide spectrum of red and cool red as well as cyan-classic blue-indigo blue which cannot be treated all the same way. Burgundy can be based on classic red but also true pink. They cannot be treated the same for olive skin types. There are barely any standards in color names which is why I rather work with frequencies and wavelengths because you can measure and calculate those exactly for every person. Generic advice is only that: generic. While it sometimes can help to categorize color types I don´t fancy it much, because there are 9 billion unique color types! I love this very aspect that people are unique and what will work for one olive skin type will not work for another EVEN if they look very similar. And this comes down to energetics - not only what coloring you have. It is always the safest to get your custom color analysis done for the most accurate results and fully aligned colors.

I'm a warm olive, an "autumn" in seasonal color system, and I always felt the "warm" purples and blues in autumn palettes looked awful on me making me appear sallow, and I was so confused since it makes sense warm undertones will look better in "warm" color variations but in practice didn't work. My science-based system is not based on warm vs. cool (like the seasonal analysis), which makes it more accurate and inclusive (while the seasonal is exclusive: it was developed for white women). Most people end up frustrated like you searching for years for their season only to be disappointed by the colors given once they "find" their season. Scientifically speaking, there are not 4 color types as the seasonal analysis suggests but 9 billion. My system is the only one capable of finding all 9 billion instead of squeezing you in 1 of 4 boxes where you don't belong. There are no under- or overtones. This was a helpless and clueless attempt to describe the skin color when people knew nothing about it on a scientific level. Now we do, which is incorporated in my system. Olive is Yellow Root Skin Color, and all color types are warm. All color types can wear both warm AND cool colors (something the seasonal analysis will rob you of). Yellow RSC can not wear all the same colors as they all have slightly different color frequencies, which are directly connected to color harmony rules that I apply to every client individually. My system works for all color types in the same way as I analyze every client individually. There is no cookie cutter color type template that I apply to each one (to save time or resources as other systems do). This makes the system rather complex, in-depth, and time-consuming. But my obsession and commitment to colors, harmony, health, and perfection are a good match for this high-demanding endeavor. Every person is unique, and I respect and honor that through my system and the colors I develop. 🌺

most welcome! I feel you when you say you don´t have many people you could turn to for advice. This was my situation back then and I had to make a decision: either suffer through insufficient systems that would never satisfy my fairly perfectionist mind and eye or I had to develop one myself. I am honored to be able to help other people. I wake up grateful every day. Olives have it the hardest if I may say so from my professional perspective - and being an olive/yellow RSC myself. Not only are we neglected and misanalyzed in the color analysis systems, but also in stores we hardly find the right colors especially when we don´t know what to look for. It was a real struggle for me as a teen and adult. What I have uncovered helps me so much in knowing what colors, combinations, and styles to wear to always look my best - but most importantly having an armor of healthy colors that help my body stay healthy is my number one reason to move these mountains. It is not about being pretty but about being healthy. And a healthy body is always the most beautiful in my eyes. There are certainly so many different approaches out there that I can imagine how confusing it may feel. I hope you find a home on this channel that would help you see the light. 🌺

I see many misconceptions about olive skin. Most people who think are olive are not olive at all because the seasonal analysis created this misconception not grounded in science. And since no standards have been created to identify olive skin even more misconceptions are floating around where certain skin chroma or depth is mistakingly thought to be olive skin. My system introduces a scientific standard to identify olive skin accurately. When I say red I mean a wavelength of 700 to 650 nanometers. This does not include reds that are considered "cool" like Raspberry, Fuchsia, etc. Those have very different properties (frequency, wavelength, energy) and some are even outside of the visible light spectrum - don´t exist.

people who have a blue or violet like hue to their dark skin are part of the Blue Root Skin Color family. Liking a color and it being aligned with your body frequencies are two different things. Generally speaking, Red Root Skin Colors look radiant in red, while there are also color type variations beyond Red RSC that also look aligned in red. To be sure what Root Skin Color you have you can check out the Root Skin Color Chart which I specifically created for this purpose (you can find your Root Skin Color by observing the given colors in the chart). I love the details I can learn from this video, really. They do confirm some things I thought might be true and clarify other things I was a bit confused about. By the way: I do wear only gold jewelry by now and I was absolutely stunned about how much different I feel by doing this. I basically exchanged every single piece I wore and not only do people tell me, it suits me better than silver, I feel so much better too. But that switch made me feel like certain colors I wore are actually not great for me on an energetic level, honestly, I thank you so much for kickstarting this journey. I really wish we didn't have so many things on the list we have to spend money on so I could show my appreciation in booking your services, actually supporting your business, but that's absolutely impossible atm. It is such a blessing that you create and share your perspective and knowledge with the www, honestly. Unrelated question (I hope I didn't already ask this): Do you feel color energy and do you sense color? Can you tell what color a scent would have or what color a musical composition has? I think this might just be sensing energies in general and your brain creating a connection with something you feel most at home with. But I might be wrong here. E.g. all my favorite perfumes have a similar color to me. Some are more rich, others more subtle, but they all share similar qualities OR sit in a triadic relation to the others. The types of music I prefer to listen to comes down to a similar color family as the perfumes, really and that really made me smile yesterday, because I do think there is a specific connection existing, but I just haven't fully figured it out yet.

This is beautiful to hear! I appreciate your feedback and thoughts, Julia. Yes, I feel/sense colors with related senses like sounds and smells (synesthetic). This is why I feel utterly overwhelmed in stores as I see, hear, smell, taste everything at the same time from one source of sense. It creates a massive overload that my brain needs a lot of time to process. It´s interesting that you have a preference for a triadic setting in perfumes. When you start analyzing the content of perfumes you can see relations to your color type as the ingredients based on flowers have a color/frequency - a fascinating field that I will definitely dive into in future videos.

@ellaraystyle

I see many people, even professionals, confuse olive skin with a specific skin tone or chroma. I would first make sure to analyze whether you are truly an olive skin type, having yellow Root Skin Color. To find your perfect colors - based on my recommendations in this video - I would analyze your chroma, depth, contrast and exact Root Skin Color (there are no undertones or warm vs cool color types!) and Triadic Set (a system based in the physics of color energy) which will reveal the right red-orange, true green, and indigo blue for you - to not make your skin look more yellow/green. Corals will only work for specific yellow Root Skin Colors (Olive skin tones). Most corals are based in red and while they are not the worst for olive skin they are too dissonant to create a radiant appearance. Black is harmonious for true bright color types and those who have black hair, black eyes, and for certain Root Skin Colors with high contrast. The seasonal analysis only knows one type if bright color type. My system is much more granular so that I can detect the exact level of brightness you have. I see professionals declare some people as bright even though they are medium chroma! There are also transition types who have "unstable" color types which means they oftentimes are not monochromatic (one color frequency in hair, eyes, and skin) but multiple. This dictates for them different color harmony rules - something the seasonal analysis will never catch up on because it was developed on the idea of 4 seasons and not on science. I see the seasonal analysis fail every time for every client.

I’ve got yellow skin - not warm unless I’m tan (which I do quickly in the summer). I have cool gray eyes and brunette hair - with cools as it grows out at the roots- but warms up to a red in the summer sun. When I bleach my hear - the undertone is corn yellow. I use anti-brass toners & the cooling of my hair compliments my face better than the reddish yellow that creeps in during the summer months of sun. Cool colors seem to suit my skin & softer, muted colors are key to keeping balance in winter - when my tan fades and my skin looses that warmth. I feel very between and changeable. I’ve been a dyed redhead, blonde, and dark brunette at different phases of my life & have pulled each off decently. Wanting to grow into a more natural state in my 40’s is a challenge. I’m a chameleon with the seasons. It not that I can choose wrong- I certainly have made terrible color combos- but as the gals say in the comments - I tend olive in my skin - but struggle to wear those warm colors - and yet- to wear the cool colors effectively, I must stay out of the sun completely (not a possibility for my work and location), and I must keep cooling the warmth out of my hair as it ages. I wonder if olives need more work to really pin down all that goes on with them during the changes of a year?

Olive skin is always warm. What I see people confuse is a specific skin tone like olive with chroma. Skin tone is hue/frequency and chroma is how bright or soft this hue is. So 2 different aspects of your color type. Even analysts get it wrong: they see soft chroma and think it is cool. It is still warm (as all skin tones are warm!) only with soft chroma. This misconception leads to the wrong colors.

But olive can be an overtone to both cool or warm.
@ellaraystyle
@ellaraystyle 5 ай бұрын
According to science, there are no overtones and no warm vs cool Color types. All Color types are warm and are able to wear both warm and cool colors. I explain why there are no undertones (or overtones) in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGLFqqmraL-mkMk

The cyan have me confused. I thought purples and lilacs were my blues but the cyan that turquoise is confusing me. You cant be olive and look good in cyan and lilac and purple.

It depends on your Sub Root Skin Color, and your eye color. These colors recommended in the video are a general guideline. For most accurate recommendations for your specific color type, I recommend a custom analysis.

@@ellaraystyle I am still learning to observe color and also the lines in my body for the most suitable clothing. A color analysis would be great and with the basic membership if I am a model you would analyze me though I would not get the 48 colors but you would analyze me as a model, is that correct? but then we also have the basic 3 color analysis, which cost around 300 euros.I dont understand what would be the advantage over a basic membership. The problem is that I cant get a visa card because there are requirements here in The Netherlands like having a basic salary which I dont have, otherwise I would get your basic membership and would hope to be your model for more insight into my colors.

@@ellaraystyle may be I cant wear the purples, purples seem to align with the yellow in my skin however it is not like when I wear the navy blues.

being a basic member and channel model means I give recommendations in video series like "Can You Wear This Color" and over time you could collect all your best colors. This does not include the full color analysis about your color type or the 48 colors as in the Wardrobe Palette 48. The Wardrobe Palette 3 is a full color analysis + your 3 best colors that I deliver within 3-5 business days. Does that answer your question?

@@ellaraystyle over time collecting would be nice for me as I love to learn and explore color and then a full color analysis but I cant have a visa card otherwise I would take the basis at least for 6 months.One day I hope to have a proper salary then I can have a visa card.Thank you so much. I love your channel.

I am nutural I can’t figure out worm or cool but I have yellow over my skin and pink on my skin too that’s why I gave up brown eyes and hair I just know that dark brown and dusty pink and rose are great on my and green not good
@ellaraystyle

there are only warm color types, so you can stop figuring out warm or cool. You are warm. Having yellow over or in your skin doesn´t mean that you are olive or have yellow Root Skin Color as most people have some yellow in their skin. It is the amount and mix with other colors/frequencies that will determine your color type/Root Skin Color.

I would have to see a picture of you and make an analysis to tell you what Root Skin Color you have; whether or not you have pink in your skin and whether it is your natural skin color or a skin condition which is very common in women due to hormonal imbalances, etc. Otherwise, Yellow Root Skin Color as well as Red Root Skin Color can have both yellow and pink/rose in their skin. You could find out what Root Skin Color you have with the help of my Skin Color Chart. Have a look: www.ellaray.com/store. If you don´t want to do it yourself, you can also book a Color Palette 3, 12, or 48 for your wardrobe, hair, and/or makeup. www.ellaray.com/colorpalette.

I taught green is not good for olive skins it brings yellow and green on them face up .?….??
@ellaraystyle
@ellaraystyle 5 ай бұрын
A misconception taught by the seasonal analysis. Olive Skin tones can wear True Green because it has the right frequency distance to their Root Skin Color and won't bring out any green or yellow in their faces. This is a general guideline. When analyzing a client, I make sure I choose the right frequency distance to their exact Root Skin Color to avoid yellow or green to appear in their faces. Yellow is a difficult color for Yellow Root Skin Colors that brings out the yellow in their skin (not green). For some bright chroma types, it can happen that Olive colors will bring out the green/yellow in their skin. It is very individual, which is why my system is highly personalized.

I'm fair olive with true light green eyes, I tan not burn, i only wear brick red lips or true red lipstick and the same as a stain on my cheeks. I have apricot henna hair. I was born with cool toned auburn hair naturally. You're incorrect about reds and olive!
@ellaraystyle
@ellaraystyle 2 ай бұрын
Brick red is typically a type of red orange. Just because you love wearing it doesn't mean it is aligned with you. I see many women being in love with dissonant colors because we are bombarded with dissonance, which is sold as harmony. And that goes not only for fashion and beauty.
