Be able to play to a click, gear ready to go, do pre production on ur own, save enough money to make the songs sound good. The better the band is practiced up the more time to make the songs sound good. If u don’t put the time in you will hear it in the songs.

I think anyone going into a real studio should have some good song lyrics. You can't fix poor lyrics. I've heard so many excellent studio recordings that have poor lyrics.
