It's very similar to Asimov's, The Gods Themselves. The aliens are not all of one mind. Some are cool with conquering or exterminating humanity and others are more ethical.

Also, importantly, any response will allow the San Ti to know exactly how far away we are- radio wave time of flight gives distance: in this case we know it took 8 years from her "welcome" broadcast to be heard by the San Ti and get a response to Earth. Thus, the San Ti are 4 light years away. We know this, but they do not. Her response revealed how far away Earth is.

As someone who has read the books and watched the Chinese Adaptation of the Book, the message was from a "Pacifist from this World". Take that at face value - that the being who received the message was being honest - saying Ye was lucky it was him that responded - that if she responded and sent another message it would likely get picked up by others on his planet who were not pacifists and would "conquer your world". I won't spoil anything - just confirming that you need to take that message at face value. And Ye's responding will setup the rest of the story as her response has consequences for which she was warned.

also I want to point out that the show won't descript exactly the "situation" Ye was in the book. The books really do a good job on showing how desperate people becoming in the cultural revolution. maybe Ye care a little on environment but mostly she just totally lose faith in humanity and you will empathy with her.

About that explanation of the signals. It’s not that the Americans sending signals to the sun. It’s Jupiter, who emits signals are magnified by the sun. So she found out that if you point your satellite to the sun and emit above certain power level the sun can magnify it 100mil times

In the show, Benedict Wong’s character does say the Wow! signal has never been decoded. But in real life it can’t be decoded because it doesn’t actually contain any usable information. 6EQUJ5 is a just measurement of how strong the signal was over time. The computer wasn’t able to print out numbers higher than 9 and letters were used to indicate numbers 10+.

These aren't 'lost' like dead ends. EVERYONE I've known who read the books had trouble grasping various points & science, that's kinda the point. They are going to do that because, like the 3 body system, Capitalism is inherently self desteyctive and can only sustain itself by colonizing others. Like in the book, just as earth is doomed to be colonized by the 3 body aliens, China is doomed to be colonized by the Western Capitalist Colonial powers because it is technologically inferior (at it's inception). And the only way for China to survive is to reach technological parity; just as in the book, the only way for humans to survive is to reach technological parity.

They represent the Trisolaran society and their many attempts to map the movements of their stars. In the books, the NPC guides in the game are important historical figures/scientists from earth. With each new level, the guides become more recent historical figures, suggesting the passage of time. The game is saying that they've been through many iterations of civilization. Each new civilization gets closer to a solution, but they all still fail inevitably.

I don’t get how this is called “Explained” you explain nothing, you just make a summary of the episode. As someone who watched episode 1 and 2 and watched both your episodes on 1 and 2 i learned nothing new that wasn’t already in the episode. Explained is more for naunced stuff that people might have glossed over or perhaps didn’t deduce from the episode. These bring nothing of value for people who already seen the episode. Would be better labelled “recap” instead of “explained”.
