For the first table cut control, doesn't it make more sense to just have the guy make a free selection, swing cut 1/3 of the deck, ask him to put the card in that spot, and put a break over it rather than to try to get him to pick in the bottom third or do some shady business where he puts it on top and you move it?

Whats the point of these controls, i think a pass is better, and not suspicious at all, the pass is invisible but these controls are fishy i think :/
