I have vintage Aromatics elixir and it's heaven. I wonder what the modern smells like? Also have you tried Azuree? Or Cabochard? Or Estee lauder Ailage? All of those are great if you like Aromatics elixir. Also Aramis 900 is the male version of Aromatics elixir. Its amazing!

My grandma wears Aromatics Elixr, she has been wearing this one for so many years and every time I smell it, it reminds me of her, I think this is a great mature scent for women who want to smell great! I think this smells really good and very woody. My grandparents car and their bathroom even smells like this when I first walk in there. Great perfume!

Great review. I own Aromatics Elixir and have learned to like it when lightly applied, but my daughter hates it when I wear it and almost gags. Also I scored a mini bottle of Coriandre that came with one of those old late 70s perfume gift boxes with samples. I'm not sure how it should smell but I think most of them including the Coriandre have turned to perfume "vinegar." In the future I may get a current bottle of Coriandre to see what I'm missing after seeing your review.

I have been wearing fragrances targeted for men since high school in the 80's. Never once has anyone told me I smell manly. I have had a lot of men and women tell me I smell good. It really is all in what you like and your body chemistry and how the fragrance mixes with all that creating your individual juju. Keep dousing!

Thanks for breaking out the characteristics of Chypres. It's pretty clear now. I'm very curious about Coriander because it's a vintage scent, it's green and it contains many of the notes that are in most men's fragrances. I'm one of those guys who doesn't enjoy wearing flowery or "feminine" fragrances. The coriander note is a very attractive idea to me as well. The price for the EDT is right and makes it blind-buyable. Thanks again.

Just got the CORIANDRE in today, bought the EDP. It is feminine, but I should be able to wear it in the summer heat. Mainly just wanted to find out what a chypre smells like, as I'm mostly into fougeres. I got the Fou D'absinthe last week and like it. Would you say the AIGNER EXPLOSIVE is more or less feminine (I like rose) than the CORIANDRE?

I might buy Jean Couturier - Coriandre Eau De Toilette. (£34.99 100ml on amazon) checked on fragrantica and it is similar to Soir de Lune by Sisley (£191.00 in John Lewis 100ml) My friends mum use to work on the Estee Lauder counter back in the 80s she told me that Clinique - Aromatics Elixir is the same as Aramis 900....both trigger migraine so I can't wear either. I do wear Aramis because it is is the same as Azuree by Estee Lauder.

Yes, EDP is more oil based which will give a stronger, longer lasting fragrance, whereas EDT is more water based.

I see chypre fragrances sometimes contain the note of carnation. Could you recommend a carnation dominant fragrance? It doesn't have to be chypre. I just want that soft, sweet mildly spicy smell that carnation has.

Just wanted to say that your mic quality and sound editing is impressive. In terms of really clear, high volume and really well recorded speech, this channel is top shelf. A quirky detail which nobody talks about but I just thought I'd give you really positive, appreciative feedback on the technical side of things. Well done and this kind of professional attention to detail does not go unnoticed. You sound crystal clear without any ambient noise and your mic doesn't appear to be excessively sensitive to rustling, mouth noises, opening of bottles or putting them on tables. Some mics blast my ears out; the horrible thudding sounds on tables etc...ouch. Thanks Sebastian for investing in really good gear and using the post-production software well. 👍

I'm a guy, I found aromatics elixir a bit much for me. If the flowers and chamomile were toned down I could do it. The dry down is absolutely beautiful. Enchanting even.

I wore Coriandre in my early twenties when it first came out and loved it. It was expensive and sold alongside the high end brands. I wore it till it was discontinued or so I was told. Many years later I was overjoyed to see a bottle in a drugstore with a slightly cheaper looking bottle. I bought it and was disappointed as this is not the original scent. I gave it away.

I adore chepyres. Haven't tried any of these three. Chepyre Mousse is outstanding - super duper yummylicious! And thank you for addressing this type of fragrance. I have 2 bottles of Vintage Aromatics Elixir. And I also have the newer reformulated version. I could tell the difference immediately, but the reformulated version still retains a significant reminder of the Vintage. However, the reformulated version doesn’t last as long as just the one spray needed of the Original, which could last up to 48 hours! I haven’t worn Coriander for a few years but I remember it’s beautiful scent very clearly. I’ll be adding it to my purchase list. I agree that fragrancenet.com is a great place to purchase fragrances. I’ve never had a problem or issue with any of the fragrances I’ve ordered from them throughout the years. The only fragrances I purchase directly from their websites are CHANEL fragrances and Dior fragrances. Can’t wait for the upcoming video on Chypre fragrances!
