Great video. I just ordered my DJI Osmo mobile a few days ago. I'm trying to take my YT videos up a notch. I've watched several of your videos and really enjoy them and learned a lot. If I may be so bold as to offer one piece of advice on your videos. The audio quality can be hit or miss on some of your videos. Have you considered something simple like a lapel mic? Since I've introduced it on my channels, it's helped a great deal. Keep up the videos!

Hi, good review! But I have a question: what about the microphone? In the first Osmo, there was a lateral screw. In this one, no. What's the best set up you suggest to include the videomic, for instance? thanks!

It is very difficult since there’s no proper mount for it and depending on the phone you might need an adapter. I have found multiple ways but I have not found the sweet spot for a quick and portable solution. I will definitely share whatever I can asap! Looking to get a mic in a couple of weeks! What other camera moves do you use with the DJI Osmo Mobile!?

EMT hey, I got the Osmo mobile 2 and getting really confused with the modes. I don’t understand what mode to use when and end up stuffing up the video shot. For example I was shooting a kid skating but the gimble didn’t move the way I wanted to. Any tips?

I recommend going over the modes. That way you’re familiar and go straight to shooting! For skateboarding you might need to switch between free mode and follow mode. Follow mode follows all you movements and free mode locks it in place regardless of you movements. I’ve been thinking on filming a skateboard video in Venice but will have to convince one of the skaters for that hehe! Hope this helps! When making videos that you want to look cinematic e.g traveling videos. Would you suggest having the phone in the mode where it doesn’t follow you and is locked or in the other mode where it does follow you?

It can go both ways. The different modes can help on certain situations. I think it comes down to your composition, color and frame rate. I tend to compromise on the modes a bit more because ultimately I want to make sure I capture things as they happen. I do render everything at 24fps for that “film look”. Hope this helps!

I really appreciate your tips, but ... please stick to one aspect ratio or, if you definately want to switch between 16:9 and scope (which is perferctly fine if there's a reason for it) don't just put black rectangles over your footage because this will create artefacts on the sides. I can send you a Screenshot, if you want to. In this case it is better to use the trim effect in Premiere.

They are very easy to use in Final Cut Pro X. It’s a drag and drop situation. As soon I’m done with the current videos I’ll set everything and try to film a short video on how I edit these! Honestly I have an entry level tripod/monopod combo from bestbuy and it worked great! Make sure they are not your cheap lightweight ones so it doesn’t bend. This one supports up to 6 pounds but depends on your needs. There are beefier ones. amzn.to/2JWGDHu

May I ask which monopod/ extension pole u used for the gimbal? Is it ok to used it often, because I afraid it will break the bottom mount of the gimbal? Btw thanks.. really nice tutorial 😀

If you have a tripod and you want to use the tracking option from the back camera how would you do that if you were alone?

It’s incredibly hard cuz you can’t see yourself but once I used a mirror to see the screen and tap on my face hehe. Definitely not practical.
