As an England supporter I remember that amazing Scottish side from the late 80’s early 90’s that was packed full of fit hard skill full forwards and some tremendous backs. Calder was a great lions captain as was Hastings.

That try against Wales was special as was the commentary by the legend that was Bill McLaren RIP.

I remember watching that Wales match in my grampa's house in South Wales, screaming at Gareth Davies for kicking the ball with two men outside him. Fantastic rugby after that, including Rees' tackle but mainly the support and determination from the Scottish pack. Great times

Laidlaw's try was scored at Lansdowne Road and he did it so many times they called it Laidlaw's corner :-)

how did they? this Welshman remembers a mixed decade in the 5 nations (Wales' decline from the 70s), with Australia having a brilliant team in early 80s then NZ dominant in world cup

More of an emotional feeling. Everybody admired Scotland and the way they played. Even teams that were better than them.

We won a grand slam in 84. I think we snaffled a couple of championships/ triple crowns too but we also got whitewashed/ spooned in a couple of seasons. 85 was definitely a whitewash, think 83 would have been but we beat England at the death. We weren't so different from what we are now. A team which can give you a hard time if we turn up or you play us at home but can go to pot too. Telfer got the best out of us.
