I LOVE the absolutely silent first impression WanBot has when he selects Lilia. Just has SO MUCH to say, but at the same time is repressing the urge to give a kneejerk reaction.

A few things: Firstly, since you mentioned about how you dislike how scaling just stops in Vampire Survivors, I am obligated to mention they actually fixed that with an unlock, which gives a "limit break", with endless stat boosts instead of getting money or wall chicken from levelup rewards. Still get money from chests though. Secondly, I think the already revealed evolutions in this game might actually be the primary weapon evolutions, and the ones you discover are the generic ones. It was just a pattern I noticed. Either way, game looks fun.

Limit break, everyone always sets it to random always and forgets about it, though, at least after the first couple of handpicked upgrades. The problem with maxing out evolutions quickly is that you stop making interesting decisions. In VS once you have 6 weapons or six passives, the next four meaningful decisions are your candyboxes and arcana, and you probably have a plan for those from jump Compare this to, say, Pesticide Not Required. You're always accumulating passives, always exploring the map for fishing and mining spots. Moving and thinking are so key to progression that the don't move achievement is for 100 seconds starting whenever, so it's more a test of whether you can make a build that you can AFK after day 10 despite it no longer improving If your build is set in stone 3 minutes in and you're just waiting for number to go up, it's less engaging than if you're adding pieces the whole way through. Hell, one thing that VS does to mitigate this that every descendent seems to miss is that chests always give you something you already have(unless candy box) and biases the level-up table to give you something you already own more often than not, so you can delay making final decisions until about 15 minutes in. Which is partly why many of the descendents do very well capping out at 12-20 minutes, about when your level ups cap out

Picked this up off the video, and there is a LOT more to this game than I expected. I thought talent trees would just be stats but they change how the base weapons work and add mechanics, it's really cool!

I'm a HUGE fan of the survivors-like/bullet heaven genre of games, and I just found out about and tried this one. I actually feel like this game is pretty original! Sure, it obviously wears its inspiration on its sleeve and uses a lot of the very basic and fundamental weapon types seen in most of the games of this genre--for a reason, they're just good ideas to implement--but I think it does a lot of things more uniquely and cohesively better than others. The visuals are astounding, for one, and not just because they're 3D. They sort of remind me of Gunfire Reborn's visuals, actually. The characters feel way more unique and interesting, too. I sort of like that each character's weapon is unique to them (at least, as far as I have gotten they are), although I sort of wish I could remove their corresponding passive evolve from the pool. I don't think I've ever seen a character with a weapon like DoriDori's, too, which is an amazing idea. He kinda reminds me of Rammus from League, which now that I think about it Twilight Survivors reminds me of LoL in many ways too (and this came out obviously before League did their own version of this game type). The evolutions are more intuitive (Lightning in a Bottle with Lightning, Gold with Gold, Sword with Dagger, etc.), which was kind of nice, and the fact that the game went out of its way to tell you to pick up the first evolution item I think was cool for tutorializing the system. Also, the fact that the first run can be won relatively easily is pretty unusual for this kind of game and I liked a lot. I also like that this game has somewhat of a basic narrative that players can follow, even if it's not much. The boss of the first section of the game constantly harassing you during each of its chapters was pretty sweet. Idk. All-in-all, even if the core is quite obviously 90% similar to VS, those small touches that make up the 10% do go a long way in my opinion towards giving this game a strong sense of identity in a genre that--as you already pointed out in your video--often loses that. I've played a ton of these kinds of games because they quickly became a favorite of mine after playing VS, and there is something about this one that makes it stand out to me, and I'm pretty sure I haven't even seen all of its systems or features yet.

Node Completion bonuses are likely permanent account wide buffs after maxing a character. I like the talent tree, and specifically how they’re special for each character. Makes each one of em feel a lot more special, especially since the chars themselves are on more the unique side. This is probably one of the best VS-likes out there, just needs a lot more content. But that’s also for every VS like haha.

Without going into spoilers, I suggest reaching the credits of Vampire Survivors before finalizing your critic of the game. That being said, if the game is too easy, unlock and use Hurry Mode to make the game tick faster. Anyway, if you clear the game, um, I'll call it the main path to the ending, you'll have a few surprises. Minor spoiler to save you some time: you'll have to first beat each of the 25 minutes mark boss in each of the 4 first stages to unlock their Hyper mode. This will then unlock the Moongolow stage. Then clear that stage and enjoy the ride. :D If you're strong enough, consider using Hurry Mode to make time tick faster.

Remember when you have banishes. If you banished that dash distance on the first run it wouldn't have shown up later, especially when you beat that bull boss.

3:49 you said you thought it was more on the basic side but maybe you just had to wait… you’re only a littler over 2 minutes into the run!!?! Was your test that determined the game was basic literally a one minute run? Obviously bullet heavens start out really slowly… you play them for a living, you should know this.

I'd already played a run off camera, so I knew beforehand how it works. And by the end of the video, I don't think that stance was really challenged.

You can kill the pig, but it only drops a single green exp crystal. So, not worth it. It's not even an achievement, which is annoying considering how much work it is to keep it on the screen, since it despawns if it gets far enough from you.
