Just the mention of "Airbnb" creeps me out. Someone else's house? Really? I don't know what they cost to rent but a motel or even a hotel are the only places I'd ever stay while away from home. I once (late 1990s) stayed at a motel in a small-ish Iowa town that was clean, had a full kitchen, two bedrooms, a large living room and full free breakfast in the lobby. $26/night. Those days have long since passed though. Now, staying at a so-called low-cost chain motel like Super 8 is crazy expensive but almost anything is better than a creepy Airbnb.

Hotels/motels are outrageously priced now. I was traveling by car this summer & spent 3 nights along the way. To find a motel without reviews about bedbugs & roaches, we had to pay at least $120 per night. And these were not motels with any extras, just the promise of a clean room with NO BUGS!

I’m planning a vacation for this year and I thought booking a hotel 4-5 months ahead would help. It’s still expensive! I even switched to going during the week days would help. That made no difference. I was expecting to have extra money since we have a new vehicle and don’t have to rent. Now I’m planning to cook some meals to save money.

There is nothing better than renting one, most don't actually live in them and they come with everything you need. You would rather lay in a bed where 1000 others have slept and did who knows what with a person making $9 an hour to clean it - that's on you lol We rent them all the time, actually in one right now while typing - absolutely love them

My wife and I, along with two other couples stay at AIRBNBs several times a year. It's a chance for us to get away for a long weekend, and enjoy ourselves. The problem for somebody screwing with us is, we're retired cops. It would be a terrible mistake to interrupt our little getaway.
