The Derwent Valley Heritage Way or DVHW is a long distance footpath of 55 miles that follows the River Derwent through the Peak District National Park of Derbyshire. The trail starts at Heatherdene near Ladybower Reservoir and continues in a southerly direction passing through numerous places of interest including the Dark Peak area of Derbyshire, Chatsworth Estate, Darley Dale, The Amber Valley and Erewash and passing several significant mills to the industrial revolution along its route including the Derwent Valley Mills a world heritage site part of UNESCO, which includes Cromford and the Cromford canal, then through Belper before heading to Derby and Shardlow before the trail finishes as it reaches the River Trent.
This is day 1 of the trail where I complete the route over 3 days.
Today we start by Ladybower and pass Bamford, Nether Hall, Leadmill, Grindleford, Stoke Hall, Calver Mill and Baslow.
