Yes: in winter and in other seasons. During some storms, our tent kept us dry and, sometimes, equally important, it blocked the wind. We also had cold and wet times.

what if you get winddriven rain instead of snow, hmm? better CARRY a couple of membranes, folks. An extra 1.5 lbs is not going to kill you. Yu can LOSE 1.5 lbs of body fat in 2 days simply by fasting. With TWO membranes, you can stuff dry debris between them, tie or tape the edges and have a sleeping bag that means you dont NEED the fire, down to at least 20F.in just cammies, If you have adequate clothing to be walking around when it COULD get that cold, such a contrivance will let you shiver thru a night at 0F, or sleep several hours at a time with hot rocks or hot water bottles inside of the bag with you. A sleeping bag of normal make will not help you in the rain. In fact, it'll be ruined (for that trip, at least) by its getting wet.
