Nope. There are a few classes of fireworks. The F1 class are things like poppers suitable for indoor use. F2 & F3 classes are for lawns and large open areas, and are available to the public. F2 & F3 fireworks are ones like small mortars, roman candles, large fountains, bottle rockets ect. F4 fireworks are of the baboom! Class and are restricted to those possessing proper permits and licenses. These would be the large mortars, and just about anything that can take an arm off.

Several years ago, I was at a friends house on NYE watching them set off fireworks. Someone set off a small aerial firework, and it headed straight to the garage where my friend and I were standing with a group of small kids. You don't have time to react, it all happens so fast. Your reaction seems like you're moving in slow motion. Thank god the firework was small and quickly extinguished itself. I recall that we didn't even have time to dodge or run away. I hope the victims get treatment and recover, I think that it is something that all who were involved will never forget.

"It was like a bomb went off". Yes, because that's actually what happened. When are people going to understand that this is EXACTLY what a firework is! It's just a small bomb with some pretty colours added for when it explodes. Key word....explodes! It's just that normally people set these things off so they explode up in the sky, not right next to people. A horrific way to go, RIP to the deceased.

Fireworks have been illegal for years yet these kinds of incidents happen every single year. Come on people. Aloha means being responsible and obeying the laws. Laws against fireworks were put in place to protect ourselves and our aina. If you circumvent the laws and obtain and use illegal fireworks this is what can happen. Now because some people wanted a little excitement your family and community has suffered casualties that didn’t have to happen. 😭
