Has a lot of reasons. Long story short ,I had over 5 years of being a well known resident DJ in multiple clubs in my hometown (Vienna),played almost every major club in my country and even got bookings in foreign countries, supported all my favorite producers in the scene (only noisia is missing but I literally shared decks with 90% of the guys whos tracks I use in this mix ). Lets say i reached everything that was possible without being a well known producer in dnb. Just got fed up with the DJ lifestyle. Its fun to go out and party every weekend when you are the same age as the crowd, but I am in my mid-late twenties now, run a business with my girlfriend and life a really healthy lifestyle. I just don´t have enough time and interest anymore to dig tunes multiple hours a week and seek the cherries. Also the scene in my hometown has changed alot. My main night where I used to be resident doesn´t exist anymore and there is nothing similar right now where I really could say I really want to play this night. Don´t feel sorry for me, i had a really good time in the scene, made a lot of friends and great memories. Still got my dj desk standing in my room and I do some mixing from time to time but the last time i bought some new tunes was in 2016. Life just moves on and i am pretty happy how it is right now :)

I have it happen to me sometimes that I kick in a song and it has a much larger signal power than the song I had on. Do you listen to determine if a track needs volume adjustment or do you simply look at the volume indicators?

i know what you mean. if you buy tunes from the same source (for me it is beatport) and are propperly masterd they are all leveld at -0 db wich means they have the same volume. back when i used to play vinyl i dropped the needle in the middle of the tracks and adjusted the levels so they are the same. sometimes unmasterd dubs are slightly less loud then my bought tracks so i have to adjust the gain knob abit. just know your tracks and if you are not sure skip to the drop and adjust the volume. if you start playing big sound systems people will thank you :) hope i could help

Schönes Set! Falls du nach 6 Jahren hier immer noch Kommentare liest: Sind die 850er auch 2020 noch zu empfehlen? Überlege derzeit mir einen als drittes Deck hinzustellen, da es die gebraucht recht günstig gibt. Alternative wäre der XDJ 700, aber der sieht einfach zu schäbig aus irgendwie. Für Deck 1 und 2 fasse ich die XDJ 1000er ins Auge. VG

ich hab nur einen youtube account, auch wenn ich nichts hochlade verwende ich ihn noch :P cdj850 ist nachwievor zu empfehlen, ich versteh eh nicht warum sie laufend neue cdjs rausbringen.(abgesehen vom geld das sie damit machen) einziger nachteil meiner meinung nach ist das du keine waveform hast wenn du die tracks nicht über rekordbox exportierst. kurze gegenfrage: was haben die xdj1000 was die 850er haben, abgesehen vom bildschirm und linkfunktion? eventuell ist mein zugang ein bissl oldschool weil ich vor über 10 jahren mit platten begonnen hab zu spielen aber meiner meinung nach brauchst du außer cue,play,pitchfader und jogwheel nichts.

an deiner stelle würd ich mir einfach 3 850er hinstellen da hast du mehr für dein geld! xdj700 würd ich nicht kaufen da das jogwheel kleiner ist als der clubstandard. kp ob du in clubs spielst aber es ist schon praktisch wenn du daheim das selbe zeug stehen hast wie überall anders. cdj850 spielt sich wie cdj2000 etc

@@ilikebananasFPV Danke für deine Antwort, spiele des Öfteren in Clubs, deswegen möchte ich ja aufrüsten sozusagen. Vorteil an den 1000ern wäre für mich vor allem, dass sie nicht so alt sind (technisch), übersichtlicheres Track-Browsing, Quantize für Loops, stark verbessertes MT (falls man es mal verwendet), tilted Display, Hot Cues und eine Dezimalstelle bei den BPM. Verwende so gut wie keine CDs. Am 850er gefällt mir, wie du schon richtig gesagt hast, das große Jogwheel im Gegensatz zum 700er. Die Memory Cues funktionieren doch genauso wie bei den größeren Playern, oder? Verwende die nämlich fast immer. Sync etc verwende ich nicht, weshalb ich überhaupt erst auf die 850er kam.

ich versteh deine argumente warum du gern die xdj1000 hättest, mir wärens aber keine 1000 euro wert die ich mehr zahlen müsst ;) memory cues funktionieren genauso wie bei den großen aber laden gefühlt ein wenig langsamer. (ca 2sec)

hey man little advice. When mixing how do you adjust your bass? will you always cut off the bass on one track when mixing both together or...?

depends on the situation but 99% of the time (mixing dnb) you can say that you are just playing 1 bassline at a time. breakdowns are a different story.

Julian Girsch cool cheers mate. Alsooooo....... I currently have two technics with serato SL2 and im going to buy a CDJ 1000 MK3 and need to upgrade to a 3 channel mixer, £400 is my max really. Do you have any recommendations? e.g. is the ecler nuo 3.0 any good do you know? Sorry for all the questions, just hoping you could help! :)

i mixed a few times on the ecler nuo 3.0 and think its a pretty good 3 channel mixer but if i were you i would consider buying a 4 channel mixer instead because if you want to add a second cdj you will have to upgrade your mixer anyway. before the djm 700 i had a xone 22 and decided to buy a 4 channel mixer because of the standard club mixer layout. it really can confuse you when you have to encounter different ways of pre listening etc. you can also plug in a mp3 source or your pc in without switching wires

Yeah true but I can't imagine when i'd need a second mixer. Its just for bedroom use, will never be using 4 decks. okay coool, ill have a look at the djm 700. Just hunting for good/moderately priced 3/4 channel mixers! Thanks for the help!

DJ Catalystix Headphone volume because hes switching between cue and master volume. Touching the eq's because hes adjusting them and getting into the mix, would you prefer if he stood there like a lemon?

+DJ Catalystix. its more or less just a mental checklist thing on the one hand and then i really cant still and do nothing while deejaying. i also do alot of really small eq adjustments to make the transitions as smooth as possible.
