The emotion this pulls out is intoxicating. This video is brilliant. High school was the perfect setting for this. The emotion 3 doors down shown in their performance especially with the instruments was just pure bliss. The vocals and everything makes this song legendary. One of my favorite songs ever.

Yeah it’s incredible when you see the video and the value of it. I’m 50. Graduated in the early 90s. This is my first time watching the video and evaluating its content. I apologize to everyone and myself. I’m not a lyrical scholar of songs. I’m wired to hear the instrumental and composition of music. The flow, composition, transitions. Watching this video I was blown away. I saw myself in the depiction of the multiple times. I was the guy picking on, bullying. I was the same guy picked upon and bullied at times. It was a place if you weren’t fully grounded, you had to figure it out and do it quickly. So many regrets. But honestly. Our young are forced to do it quickly.

Totally agreed. Such a brilliant, powerful, and moving song.
@2000metal-b8l3 ай бұрын
depends what you define as "powerful"... this song is rather soft and mellow, musically. if you're talking about the lyrics / text then yes it is deep and emotional indeed. But that doesn't make it "powerful" for me. The energy from this song is rather weak becuse it is very slow paced. or maybe we have a different defenition of it. For me "powerful" Rock is something like Hard Rock (Rammstein) or Grunge (Nirvana)

Possibly my favorite Era of music, and I'm 57 years old. The 80's are a very close second. My oldest, now late son, had a great influence on my musical tastes, as I did on his. I'm certain I will still adore Three Doors Down even if I make it to 100. His vocals are one of my favorites of all time.

I love 3 doors down, but I'm very confused by your comment. Your 57, and your "favorite era of music " is early 2000's? What confuses me even more is 80's music is 2nd. 80's rock music is great, but you grew up with the greatest rock music in history. I was born in 82 so I'm lucky enough to know great music. Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith Jimmy Hendrix, rolling Stones, pink floyd, eagles, Fleetwood mac , ACDC,, Kiss, Van Halen , ZZ top lynrd Skynyrd. Just to name a couple. Damn buddy without your generation of music we wouldn't have had some later great bands like GNR, Alice in chains, nirvana, soundgarden etc. Let alone the era of 3 doors down. Lmao your not wrong about them being a fucking kick ass band. In my opinion one of the last great bands, but come on dude.

I always thought the guitar solos were a little lacking... after being used to hearing Hendrix, Page, Clapton and David Gilmore.... I wish they would have taken more time on their solo's, because I can tell they could do better. They just cut it out to make sure they were a little more main stream and commercialized. :( ... I bet they might regret that now if you get them talking about it.

this song was played at my uncles funeral a few months ago, it really reminds me of him and how caring of a person he was to my family. He had addictions and had trouble around other family members but made sure his grandkids were always happy and safe, he never had kids of his own and was really never financially stable. He lived with his mom most of his life and visited me or my dad often because it was me and my dad who he really loved, aside from his mother of course. it was hard getting used to it but she is happy, he had health problems days before he died which affected him getting out of bed to the point where he cried in pain. I will never forget his voice, his upward attitude towards everyone. Rest easy uncle

@@jamiesloan5902 This is a song, explains 3DD frontman Brad Arnold, about one of his buddies from when he was a teenager. "He was from a good family, but he just kind of got mixed up in cocaine and stuff." Arnold says that the point of the song is not him calling his friend a loser; in fact, he says, despite the title, he's actually not. Rather, the song is about his friend's self doubt, and how he internalized his feelings. "Thankfully," says Arnold, "he's doing a lot better now. And I get a lot of people saying they can really identify with that song in some way. I think everybody feels like that every now and then."

+Марио Христов that's not always the case. a lot of people respect themselves just fine and get bullied and hated anyway. sometimes that confidence is what make the bullies do what they do. they don't like something about themselves and see it in another person and see them being okay and they just attack them trying to make them feel the same. I know because I've been on the receiving end of it. I've always liked and respected myself as I am and that makes a lot of insecure, abusive people angry.

And it comes back many years later and that lyric hits me like a freight train.. "I'm holding the rope and I'm taking the fall" So many fucking times I held that rope.. contemplating.. in pain wanting to be set free.. today I still hold that same rope.. each and every day I still try to come up with at least one reason why I shouldn't... Contemplating.. in pain... Wanting to be set free!! The only fear I have is the lives that I leave behind.... And that's my only reason... Even though I'm in pain... I don't want to cause pain to others

If kids that committed suicide today had listened to this song before they did themselves in, then maybe the outcome would have been different. I feel like this song is about addressing personal grievances with other people, the fact that we're not perfect, that we all have something that makes us "losers". Sadness is only the first part of the healing process, but some people get stuck in it, because they don't accept this loser in them, they think they're the only ones. So by reminding people we're not alone, the song helps push us along.

Dakota Jacobson You'd be surprised what things can inspire a change in thought processes. It only takes a moment to pull the trigger, if at that moment something sheds a new perspective on the situation it can be enough to stay a hand. That extra time might be enough for the individual to admit they need some help or to make some changes. To someone that far gone, everything matters... usually a lot more than it should.

***** I understand. My first comment wasn't supposed to imply that hearing this song will cure people of depression or suicidal thoughts. I was just saying that very simple and sometimes even stupid things can snap you out of it momentarily and if that happens at a time when someone is right in the depths, it can give them a reason to seek some help due to the shock of knowing just how close they were to dying. Would you be comfortable sharing what it was that eventually spurred you to get some help?

This is one of the most outstanding rock songs of its era. Perfect. Brad Arnold is such a brilliant song writer. He wrote this song when he was still in high school, I believe and it is such a simple but complex song. Totally sounds like the grunge rock of the 90s (my favorite genre) only well after the 90s sadly faded away. This group is such a unique and intelligent group. They don't follow the typical anti-establishment young people politics goth crowd copying others like blind sheep. I think Arnold was influenced by some of his family who served in the military. I was very sorry to hear when Matt Roberts died I think from an overdose and sadly his father found him. Matt was such a talented guy. Anyway, I would love to see these guys since they are still performing.

soo your 35 now and I'm 36. I don't have a clue how relationships work. I spent the best years of my life as a chronic depressant and my love life was stunted/scared further by someone who falsely accused rape. I've settled into the bachelor life, as I don't see much prospect of anyone taking an interest in a middle-aged portly man with a relationship background of a college freshman. If that's you in the pic, I think you're really pretty and have a lot of potential. The fist step would be to get away from addicts and find a new group of friends and loved ones. The fact that you have been so close to and active addict and clean yourself tells me, er.. screams at me, that you got that under control. But you have to break ties with people who live that lifestyle. When all else fails, do what your grandma said and 'find a nice man to settle down with.' ... nice and clean (non-addict). I wish you the best of luck Danielle

Don't let life get you down. There's so much more to life than High School. After High School, most of the "popular people" I knew went down the typical path that their parents took: College, meet someone, get married, have a kid, get a house, get a minivan, all that stuff. Me, on the other hand, I joined the military. Not just out of a sense of patriotism, but to get the hell away from that town and all the people in it. I have done more in the past decade than they could ever hope to accomplish in their life: I've served overseas, including a 15 month tour of Iraq, I've been to several countries in Europe, Asia, and served in Korea as a helicopter door gunner and helicopter mechanic. I've traveled the world, experienced the ups and downs of life, all since high school. Like I said, don't let life get you down. Live your life the way you want to, not what your damn guidance counselor tells you to. It really does get so much better. "You know that moment when you realize no one expects anything of you? That's the moment when you should realize: You have nothing to lose. Go for it."
